On draft at Brewer’s Ball 2013. Pours a porter brown color with an off-white head. Nose is roasted malt, some earthy peppers, some spicy almost anise flavor with chocolate. Flavor follows with some earthy peppers, anise, some light sweetness and some dark chocolate. Interesting beer and complex as all hell. Unbelievable beer overall.

on tap-tan head with some trailing lace-brown. A-soft roasty med malt, slight honey. T-starts with soft roasty med malt, slight honey. Then a slight warming at the back of the throat. This does build just a bit with each sip along with the sweetness. Nice.

Great American Beer Festival, 2012. Dark. This beer had tons of flavor and I thought it was one of the highlights of the festival. There is anise, orange, pepper, and cardamom. Lightly sweet. Very good.

Poured up at GABF 2012 with a nice mahogany looking body that supports a sort of mocha colored head that has some tan swirls to it and it leaves behind a little bit of lacing too. Nice looking brew. The aroma seems kind of Abbey Dubbel like initially and comes across pleasing with ripe brown sugar covered plum like sweet fruity esters, and what seems like a touch of coriander and clove and then some earthy chocolate notes in the background. Wow, ok, the taste is really nice. It starts off with dark roasted malts and then picks up a rich near velvety dark chocolate note and it quickly rolls into more and more chili pepper heat midway and into the finish. Fantastic experience on the first sip. I hope the sips to follow can maintain . . . maintain damn you! Oh it does, nice. Into the after taste it leaves a modest chili pepper burn and warming that certainly isn’t too much but sure lets you know it’s there. Really nice brew. Well done!
