Poured up at GABF 2012 with a nice mahogany looking body that supports a sort of mocha colored head that has some tan swirls to it and it leaves behind a little bit of lacing too. Nice looking brew. The aroma seems kind of Abbey Dubbel like initially and comes across pleasing with ripe brown sugar covered plum like sweet fruity esters, and what seems like a touch of coriander and clove and then some earthy chocolate notes in the background. Wow, ok, the taste is really nice. It starts off with dark roasted malts and then picks up a rich near velvety dark chocolate note and it quickly rolls into more and more chili pepper heat midway and into the finish. Fantastic experience on the first sip. I hope the sips to follow can maintain . . . maintain damn you! Oh it does, nice. Into the after taste it leaves a modest chili pepper burn and warming that certainly isn’t too much but sure lets you know it’s there. Really nice brew. Well done!

Black pour with a near white head? Aroma is primarily roast malt. Taste is roast malt and woody bite. Little peppery finish.

I don’t love it... It’s a porter base with honey and chili added but the chili is nice and the honey is too much. The porter itself might be nice but it has too much heat and sweetness to be enjoyed personally.

Got a growler at the grand opening. This beer is well balanced and as advertised, spiced. It was exactly what I want in a spiced porter, warm pepper and chocolate. The honey keeps it sweet and invites more sipping. Spice.

Tap @ brewpub. Brown ruby - reddish coloured with a beige head. Nose is toasted malts, chocolate, caramel, honey. Flavour is initially toasted malts, fruits, chocolate, followed by an increasing spicyness and hotness. Honey also noticable later. Finish is slightly sweet and fairly spicy. Well balanced with the peppers and honey. Develops as you sip. Very well done.

Tap at Darwin’s on 4th. Dark brown pour white head. Smells like Christmas, nutty and toasted herbs. Light body English porter with light spice in the flavor. Aroma hypes this up more than the taste. Interesting but nothing special.

Tap sample. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted peppers, malt and dark honey aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted peppers sweet malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex brew.

Tap at GABF 2013. Poured a clear dark brown with a bubbly tan head. The aroma is yeast roasted malt and alcohol. The flavour is strong bitter with a malty barnyard spice chilli palate which really kicks in late in the finish. I was wondering when it would come but t did and didn’t disappoint.

On draft at Brewer’s Ball 2013. Pours a porter brown color with an off-white head. Nose is roasted malt, some earthy peppers, some spicy almost anise flavor with chocolate. Flavor follows with some earthy peppers, anise, some light sweetness and some dark chocolate. Interesting beer and complex as all hell. Unbelievable beer overall.

on tap-tan head with some trailing lace-brown. A-soft roasty med malt, slight honey. T-starts with soft roasty med malt, slight honey. Then a slight warming at the back of the throat. This does build just a bit with each sip along with the sweetness. Nice.
