COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It was in 1842 that a Bavarian brewmaster first brewed this classic beer style, today known throughout the world. Unfortunately, it is often poorly copied, being created using adjunct grains like corn, rice, or worse yet, sugar cane or beets. These adjuncts produce beer without body, mouth feel or specific character. We use 100% barley malt. Our Pilsener is everything that a true Pils should be: clear, golden color with a dense white head, full of barley malt and balanced with a perceptible noble hop bitterness.

Formerly Das Bierhaus Pilsener.

This beer is a pinnacle of what a pilsner brewed in America can and should be. The hops are there in both taste and aroma. My favorite is when this beer is first tapped. It is so cloudy and full bodied that its a truly a treat. Save the money for a trip to the Czech republic, go here for the best pilsner you will find

Growler via Mys Swap 4 (thanks skyview!!). Pours a hazy amber with a nice large white head. Nose is earthy/spicy. Taste is biscuits, grass, toast, mild fruit. Body is medium, carbonation is perfect. This is very very very tasty. I could drink this all day every day. Mmmmmmmmm, i am speechless. The flavors meld together perfectly. Tis a master brewer who can make a Pils that is so far above the rest.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2010 Got a fresh glass at the Brewpub. Crisp malt body with moderate carbonation and solid hop bitterness. Lingering taste of aroma hops in the finish. Very authentic German Pils, like the little village breweries still make. Seems a bit high in alcohol, though. Nevertheless, one of the best that I have ever had.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2009 Thanks to Skyview for sharing. An interesting and unusual pilsner. Gold in color and a white head, it looks very nice. Aroma has light hops. The flavor is a surprise, mild hops and very salty. One of the saltiest beers I have ever had, like a gose. Herbal, vegetal finish. It is hard to find a pilsner so thick and heavy on the palate, quite a rare thing. The best pilsner I have had outside of the Czech Republic, and certainly my favorite non-Bohemian style pilsner.

Visited Das Bierhaus for their official Grand Opening on June 30. This beverage pours a clear rich golden blonde brew with a nice white head that slowly dissolves to a fine film. Excellent lacing that occurs naturally or after taking a drink. Aroma of sweet Hawaiian bread dough, sunflower honey, with flowery hops. Taste is slightly thick, creamy, medium body (surprising for a Pils), lightly carbonated, with a slight sweet bread aftertaste. Finish is smooth, light and a near clean aftertaste. By far, one of the best pilseners I have had to date.

Sep 29, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. This is a pilsner?!? That was my reaction the first time I had this beer. The beer was a cloudy gold color with mild carbonation. It had a delicious zesty-wheaty aroma and flavor. There was also a mild sweetness in the flavor. Definitely the best American Pilsener!!

Growler courtesy of Skyview. Gold color with no head. Grassy aroma with a little wheat. Very bitter flavor, full of Noble hops. Dry grass finish. Wow, killer Pils.

First a sampler than a full pour in a large ass footed pilsner glass. It is a completely full thick golden color, cannot see through it. Has a firm thick head on top. As the head fades a thick insulation-like foam sticks around and covers the surface. A pretty damn attractive beer. Aroma is a very thick lacto/milky-like maltiness and not just the standard white bread maltiness; thick, strong, original, and interesting. The flavor is similar but it is balanced by some zing from the hops. Has a long sweet, non-sugary aftertaste with a hint of non-citric lemon. It is very easy drinking despite having a thick, full body. It is a "big" pils without being the Americanized version of "big." I would go out of my way to drink this again.

Yep. This is what a pilsner should be. Unfiltered, ample bitterness, good hoppiness. Served at a little warmer temp than I’d like, but that is about the only negative thing I can say about this beer. World Class within the style. Very nice job Das Bierhaus!
