COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It was in 1842 that a Bavarian brewmaster first brewed this classic beer style, today known throughout the world. Unfortunately, it is often poorly copied, being created using adjunct grains like corn, rice, or worse yet, sugar cane or beets. These adjuncts produce beer without body, mouth feel or specific character. We use 100% barley malt. Our Pilsener is everything that a true Pils should be: clear, golden color with a dense white head, full of barley malt and balanced with a perceptible noble hop bitterness.

Formerly Das Bierhaus Pilsener.

Yep. This is what a pilsner should be. Unfiltered, ample bitterness, good hoppiness. Served at a little warmer temp than I’d like, but that is about the only negative thing I can say about this beer. World Class within the style. Very nice job Das Bierhaus!

First a sampler than a full pour in a large ass footed pilsner glass. It is a completely full thick golden color, cannot see through it. Has a firm thick head on top. As the head fades a thick insulation-like foam sticks around and covers the surface. A pretty damn attractive beer. Aroma is a very thick lacto/milky-like maltiness and not just the standard white bread maltiness; thick, strong, original, and interesting. The flavor is similar but it is balanced by some zing from the hops. Has a long sweet, non-sugary aftertaste with a hint of non-citric lemon. It is very easy drinking despite having a thick, full body. It is a "big" pils without being the Americanized version of "big." I would go out of my way to drink this again.

On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Pours a transparent deep effervescent golden with a nicely-lacing stringy white head. Aroma of fresh, crisp noble hops and lightly sweet pale malt. Starts fairly full for the style with a good mild sweetness and great balance of fresh Saaz hops toward a crisp, very drinkable finish. Definitely one of the best pilsners Ive had.

Sampler. Cloudy gold, nice lacing. Nice aroma of earthy hops with a bit of grains and lemon as well. Nice solid bitterness, but not too much. Excellent pilsner.

On tap at the brewpub - Pours hazy gold with a foamy white head--loving the unfiltered murkiness. Smell is light breadiness with an herbal hop aroma and a light honey sweetness. Taste is all barley, bread, and yeast up front, finishing with a light herbal grassiness. Maybe a bit too much grain, and feels a bit heavier than Id like. However, this beer has a decent amount of heft while still being very drinkable. I feel like this beer would get better and better the more Id have of it.
