Baumgartner (24), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Jul 3, 2008 July 2nd, 2008 Sample platter. Toasted straw or hay like aroma. With a white head that mostly diminished. Nice yellow brew with a slight hazyness on a count of the yeast. Medium body and nice carbonation. A great drinker. akevitt (94), Valhalla, Minnesota, USA Apr 16, 2008 Sep 29, 2007
Draught at the brewpub. The beer had the appearance of lemonade. It was lightly carbonated with a moderate amount of foam. Banana, wheat, and yeast were present in the aroma and flavor. It had a banana/wheat finish. It was lighter on the palate than most hefe’s, but not in a watered down way. Very thirst quenching! I could drink this all day! JK (2341), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Sep 29, 2007 A good beer, but not as good as the dunkelweizen. Fairly clear, especially for the style. I like a cloudy, yeasty hefeweizen. Fairly light aroma with wheat, citrus, some banana. The flavor has similar qualities. More wheat, banana, citrus. The flavor is right but it is too light, and I would like this to be a little sweeter with a heavier and thicker palate. A good beer, but made me think of a kristalweizen rather than a hefeweizen. BDR (1846), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Aug 24, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Very very good for a hefe. Heavily carbonated ight yellow color. Light banana taste that took a back seat to a wonderful fresh clove flavor. islay (363), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jul 7, 2007 After seeing Skyview’s raves, I decided to head down to Menomonie and check out Das Bierhaus for myself. I ordered the sampler, in which I got about 4 oz. each of all five of Das Bierhaus’ beers for the very reasonable price of $5. The hefeweizen has an impressively complex aroma that features honey, white grape juice, apple juice, banana, watermelon, bubble gum, and lemon scents. Overall a sweet aroma but with a nice sharp sour contrast as well. Pours a sparkling pale yellow with a slight haze and white head. A lot of bubbles. Nice, fruity and floral taste. Honey and lemon flavors. Surprisingly, the finish is fairly hoppy. Light body. Easy to drink. Das Bierhaus makes a very pleasant hefeweizen. If I have one complaint, it’s that I wish that this beer were a little heavier in the yeast content, both for appearance and flavor.
