phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 3, 2009 Sampled on draught: Poured a sort of murky brown. I love how the beers are unfilitered leaving tons of crap floating around. Aroma was again sort of sour, but a pleasent sour reminiscent to tart cherry. Taste was a bit tart with soft spice mid way through the palate. Finishes long and satisfying. Tripplebrew (470), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Mar 9, 2009 Pours a brown sugar amber with very light head. Aroma is almond/hazelnut with vanilla nuts. Flavor is nutty fruit and hops (citrus notes). Body is creamy light with mild carbonation. WisconsinBeer (514), St Paul, Minnesota, USA Mar 2, 2009 Deep orange color. Sour wheat notes and citrus zest. Light bodied. A fair representation of the style. grimreeser (795), Minnesota, USA Aug 14, 2008 Sampler. Aroma is nutty, caramel, a bit of smoke. Almost perfect flavor. Excellent. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Aug 10, 2008 Ordered this at the brewpub as part of a sampler. Aroma: nutmeg, roasted nut, and maple syrup. Very smooth palate and easy drinking. A rich malty beer and a good one. Baumgartner (108), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Jul 3, 2008 July 2nd, 2008 Sample platter. Roasted, almost nutty aroma with a hint of smoke. Creamy head atop a hazy brown brew. Light smokey taste with a even lighter bitter finish. Excellent balance. Medium bodied. True to style. Another great beer from Das Bierhaus. akevitt (97), Valhalla, Minnesota, USA Apr 16, 2008 Sep 29, 2007
Draught at the brewpub. The beer was dark brown with a small amount of foam. In the flavor and aroma I got burnt malt/caramel malt along with some alcohol.
CaptainCougar (5374), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 18, 2007 On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Pours a hazy dark copper mahogany with a nicely-lacing white head. Aroma of dark caramely sweet malt with a light noble hoppy presence. Body starts fairly full and dark malty sweet with a touch of earthiness and noble bittering hops toward a smooth caramely finish. A nice dunkel.
