Pours a clear gold colour with a thin bubbly head. Grainy malt aroma. Slightly sweet malt taste but no great "world renown european hops" flavour jumps out at me. Lingering oiliness on the tongue.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2004 Bright golden coloured brew with good carbonation. Head is thick to start but dissipates pretty quickly. Aroma is overpowered by alcohol content. Yes, 5.9% isn't that strong, but it's enough to kill this bouquet. Pretty hard to make out the reported Bavarian Hersbrucker hops in the flavour as well. Doppelgold is not one of Dave's better beers. (Is it that tough for a North American brewery to come up with a decent German lager or pils??) Check out Dave's Honey Brown instead... much, much better. (341ml bottle)
