Damage (77), London, Ontario, Canada Jan 3, 2004 Updated: Mar 5, 2004Bright golden coloured brew with good carbonation. Head is thick to start but dissipates pretty quickly. Aroma is overpowered by alcohol content. Yes, 5.9% isn't that strong, but it's enough to kill this bouquet. Pretty hard to make out the reported Bavarian Hersbrucker hops in the flavour as well. Doppelgold is not one of Dave's better beers. (Is it that tough for a North American brewery to come up with a decent German lager or pils??) Check out Dave's Honey Brown instead... much, much better. (341ml bottle) Cartoon_khaki (1119), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Nov 30, 2002 This is the best of the Dave’s beers. Malty and dark amber daboskabouter (1469), Fergus, Ontario, Canada Jun 2, 2002 This isn’t that educated of an opinion cause I was at a party and was drinking straight from the bottle, but this certainly didn’t have much going for it. Some candyish hop notes, fairly smooth, very average. Radek Kliber (3332), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 2, 2004 Slightly fuller lager than usual. Mainly malt oriented .Light aftertaste. Medium bodied beer. Tessic (383), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Jan 6, 2004 Slightly pale golden hue with a off white head. Very small scent of malt, mostly hops. The taste starts off surprizingly smooth with a somewhat balanced flavour of malt and hops but ends quick to a watery, cleaning solution, generic, commercial beer. Definately not the worst beer I have ever tasted. Sure as hell not the best.
