Pours an off-white, three-fingered head, fades slowly and leaves a good lace. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Deep, rich amber color. Malty nose. Starts with a light sweetness and finishes with just a hint of bitterness not quite as good as Shipyard’s brown (they are the contract brewer). Was supposed to be drunk by April 04. $1.80 for a 12oz bottle from Oliver’s Beverage Albany, NY.

Brown with some red, a light-tan head. Smells of smooth malt, caramel, and toffee. Very balanced malt taste with the same notes as the aroma. This is a very drinkable brown, if not one of my favorites. Note: If you drink this on tap, you’re getting beer brewed at Davidson Brothers’ brewery in Glens Falls, NY. If you drink this in bottle, you’re getitng beer brewed for them by Shipyard in Maine. In my opinion, this beer is far superior on draft, and I suspect that is because the brewers have more control over their smaller batches. The bottle has all of the same characteristics, but they’re muted in comparison.

9n draft poured a reddish copper brown color, aromas of toffee, caramel, and sweet malt. Flavors ofcereal, malt, toffee, not too many hops. An ok brown ale overall.

Bottle c/o Dad. Pours reddish brown with a small beige head. Aromas of sweet malt, caramel, and toffee. The flavor is sweet; malty, light grass, and toffee. Average mouthfeel. Alright. [983]

App.: Clear deep copper with a nice light tan head. Aroma: Rich, fruity, slightly pungent caramel and toffee, brown sugar, lots of big crunchy sweet malt, slightly nutty and a touch earthy, hints of cola-like minty herbals, toast and bread crust, quite malty and nice. Palate: Medium+ body, fairly full effervescence. Flav.: Brightly fruity caramel and toffee, brown sugar notes, rich and crunchy malts, slightly nutty, a touch earthy, maybe a little floral hops, friendly; off-dry with minimal bitterness and a pleasant caramel/brown sugar and toast crust finish.

Quite pleasant and drinkable.

Draft. Pours amber brown with a beige head. Sweet and nutty malty aroma with light toffee notes. The flavor has sweet malts, chestnuts, caramel malt, and low bitterness. Nice enough.

Aroma is sweet brown sugar; English style malts (the sugary ale kind). Distinctive ringwood funk; sharp and fresh. Just a touch of dusty hazelnut. Appearance is attractive brick red, fluffy pillow of head. The flavor is very sweet toffee and caramel. More roasted malt at the finish, but still very sugary. The caramel comes in very strongly, tempered by the prickly ringwood. Really dances on the tongue; ebullient. Very sweet overall, even for a brown ale. Lots of caramel sugars, and that ringwood finish.

12 oz. bottle. Label reads "Hand crafted for Davidson Bros Brewing, Inc. Glens Falls, NY by Shipyard Brewing Company, LLC, Portland, ME." Pours a slightly hazed brown that still allows light to pass with a moderate tan head that lasted through the first two sips and left partial lace. Weak aroma of malt and caramel. The flavor is malt with just a bit of caramel followed by some dry leafy hops bitterness that lingers briefly beyond the swallow. Medium bodied. A middle-of-the-road brown ale.

A - Pours a clear light brown color with a nice finger of white foamy head. The retention was pretty good and it leaves behind some lacing left behind. S - The aroma is not overly powerful, but there are some nice elements of the malt and a bit of caramel sweetness present. T - The malts hit right away with a mix of a bit of nuts and a little bit of chocolate sweetness. This stays well balanced throughout the beer and then at the end there is some nice caramel taste that lingers afterwards. M - Medium to medium-heavy bodied, with just enough carbonation, even a bit creamy. Really nice on the tongue, feels very crisp. D - Very drinkable beer. The whole flavor of the beer is very well balanced all the way through and makes for a very excellent beer.

(draft) Crystal clear body with dark amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, light toffee, plastic. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, some earthy, spice. Light-medium body.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange brown amber with a thin white head. Ample aromas of toast and sweet malt. Thin to medium bodied. A little thinner than I’d like. Ends a little sweet with a light bitterness. Good easy drinking brown.
