You know, I was sceptical about this one. It’s a local abbey dubbel, not fromthe home land. But here it is anyway. 12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark amber color. It’s malty but what I taste most is nutty. Served and stored at 50 degrees. mildly sweet. not hoppy at all which it shouldn’t be according to it’s style and not bitter at all. Head is dense with a nice lace. Trappist glass is best to all the head to form, but not take over the glass. Very nice beer. I will get this again. Who would have known?

does not count  Nov 5, 2006 When they first brewed this it was a bit stronger, and it seems to me the taste is a tad more bitter now but in general it’s a tastey strong beer and has a dark beer flavor despite a light beer appearance. Talking to the brewer I discovered that this WOULD have been considered a weeheavy a hundred years ago. It’s their fastest selling beer ever and I can attest to why!
