beerbuzzmontreal (2697), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 1, 2007 Pours a clear golden color with a thin white head. Aroma and flavor of resinous, piney and fruity hops but there’s not much of a malt presence. Glouglouburp (1915), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 23, 2007 Was simply called Double IPA and was listed at 7%. Clear golden body with a very small white ring. Body is lacking in the malt department. Balance is clearly towards the hops. Hops flavour is 2/3 pine-tree 1/3 citrus fruit and offers a medium-high bitterness. Very little caramel or any malt flavour discernable. A bit watery. Yet another nice average typical American brewpub hop-fix. If there are two things you can expect to find in the USA it is nice well-hopped Double IPAs and nice greasy food. And a lot of drunk fat dudes too, but that’s only because a +b =c. gws57 (988), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Aug 9, 2005 Had this on on draught in Glens Falls, New York. Dark golden in color and clear with a thick, slowly dissipating head, quite unusual for the style I thought. Nose of roses and hops, hops taste quite pronounced but well balanced, with notes of apples and pears, a very good IPA. egajdzis (2947), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2005 Poured a copper color with a smal, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, wood, nuts and citrus hops. Taste was full of caramel malts, more nuts, citrus, and finishing with bitter grapefruit hoppiness. willblake (1923), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA May 26, 2005 04.23.05 Tap at TAP NY. Amber pour. Big, lacing, lasting head. Aroma is weirdly lagery and grainy, diacetyl, grassy, maybe even saazy or at least along those lines. Pretty bland and not in a terribly interesting way. Tastes mostly like cardboard, wet grain, icky, with a dry bitterness to finish. Too bad.
