beerbuzzmontreal (2736), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 1, 2007 Weak aroma and flavor of burnt caramel, there’s not much of a malt presence, peated or otherwise. The beer feels bland and boring. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Glouglouburp (1997), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 23, 2007 Clear amber body with almost no head. Watery and flavourless beer. Where’s the malt? A little leathery and a faint all-bran cereals taste. The advertised 8% felt surprisingly well hidden but given the empty and watery body I suspect its real abv was well below 8%. Not much apparent sweetness. Extremely boring beer, borderline bad. The very friendly brewer came by our table and gave us his well-rehearsed funny speech about the beer quality guarantee. I suspect lots of customers get the very same speech. Unfortunately a verbal agreement is not worth the paper it is written on. kharaku (5), USA does not count Nov 5, 2006 This is the best beer I have ever had! It’s strong, sweet, tastey. The only way it’s better is with Nitros instead o CO2. jcwattsrugger (4045), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Aug 23, 2006 on tap-pours an offwhite head with red/brown color. Aroma is malt, sweet. Taste is malt, sweet, with a bite. Mild carbonation. DYCSoccer17 (2036), Davis, California, USA Oct 6, 2005 On tap at the brewpub with a 5oz sample. Known as "Hop Scotch Ale" at the brewpub. Slightly sweet, caramelly aroma with peat-like aromas and a bit of smoked metallic aromas. Transparent dark amber color with a small off-white head. Roasty, mildly sweet and smoked flavors to start. Turns more peat-like, roasty and smoked to finish. Flavors are nice, but not overly assertive. Alcohol is undetected.
