Tap. Clear copper color. Tiny white head, stays. Sweet, honey, dusty, roast, grainy aroma. Raisins, dusty, grassy, grainy taste. High carbonation, fizzy. Sweet body. It’s gone off a bit.

50cl on tap at Gyvas, Kaunas. Deep mahogany with an off-white head. Malty, bready and a bit kvass-like aroma with notes of caramel and hints of spices. Medium sweet with a light bitterness. Pleasant one!

Aroma of bread, kvas and a bit of butter. Taste is very similar to kvas. It just tastes like an alcoholic version of kvas. Very dark, nice color.

Drank from a bottle. Taste is quite sweet and heavy on the malts. No bubbles. Not sure if I like this.

Tap at Snekutis old town. Almost black, flat, murkey. Ass smell of sour cherries, vinegar, grass ,cabbage. Not in the best condition, I would guess. Tangy, thin flavor of cherry, vinegar, somewhat like an oude bruin, but very thin.

The head is medium, the body dark, almost black. It smells darkmalty, apple-raisins. The taste is fruity apple-raisins, hoppy, malty, refreshing! Good! 11/12/11/12/-/12

Konjaksfärgad öl med vitt skum, som snart lägger sig. Smörkola! Här regerar smörkolan i både smak och doft. Dessutom fruktig och nötig, söt dunkel, men inte alls för söt.

2L plastic bottle @ Majarannan Sauna, Hervanta. Rated on 04.06.2010
Aroma has sweat, honey and some butter. Flavour has sweetish malt, some honey, butter and hints of sweat. Definitely one of the weirdest Dunkels I’ve had.

Very nice one. Special strong and sweet. Cloudy and quite foamy. NIce to drink in a bohemian place in Vilnius.

In short: A uber-toasted bronze ale. Clean and dry. Very nice
How: Tap at Šnekutis Užupis, Vilnius, Lithuania + Tap at Gyvo Alaus Krautuvélé, Panevėžys, Lithuania
The look: Clear bronze body with topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is very toasted, toasted hay, toasted wood, toasted cookies, and also some barley candy. Taste has some crunchy caramel candies and notes of raisins over a bed of toasted stuff (hay, wood, cookies). The toastiness washes away the sweetness and leaves a rather dry after-taste. Straightforward but very enjoyable. Very good but certainly not what I’m used to from a Dunkel, but rules are meant to be broker, like glasses, and chairs, and windows. Basically anything that I broke when drunk in Lithuania was meant to happen.
