2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
2L plastic bottle @ Majarannan Sauna, Hervanta. Rated on 04.06.2010
Aroma has sweat, honey and some butter. Flavour has sweetish malt, some honey, butter and hints of sweat. Definitely one of the weirdest Dunkels Ive had.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
In short: A uber-toasted bronze ale. Clean and dry. Very nice
How: Tap at nekutis Uupis, Vilnius, Lithuania + Tap at Gyvo Alaus Krautuvélé, Panevėys, Lithuania
The look: Clear bronze body with topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is very toasted, toasted hay, toasted wood, toasted cookies, and also some barley candy. Taste has some crunchy caramel candies and notes of raisins over a bed of toasted stuff (hay, wood, cookies). The toastiness washes away the sweetness and leaves a rather dry after-taste. Straightforward but very enjoyable. Very good but certainly not what Im used to from a Dunkel, but rules are meant to be broker, like glasses, and chairs, and windows. Basically anything that I broke when drunk in Lithuania was meant to happen.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
Boastful toastiness and toffee give this Lithuanian Tamsus a memorable character, as it is but slowly joined by roastiness and coffee angles.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thin ring of foam surrounds the dark mahogany.
-This is one of the toastiest examples of all of the low-gravity Tamsus (the Lithuanian interpretation of a Dunkel, if that helps) brews Ive had.
-That toasty aroma and finish are intense, surprising, and, seemingly distinctly Lithuanian.
-The soft prickling of carbonation makes a subtle fruitiness perceptible.
On tap at nekutis Uupis (3.5) and at Gyvo Alaus Krautuvelé (in Panevėys) (4.0).

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Vilniaus Alus. Pale brown pour with a very tight white head. The nose is awesome - very fresh toasted grain aroma with a little bit of lightly plummy/prune character. A bit like Special B flavour but with less overt sweetness. Worty smelling without being overly sweet. Very fresh sort of toasty character and a touch of soft grainy character rounding it out. There is a touch of noble hoppiness that adds a certain floral character to it, but its still malt dominated. Yeah - this is good shit.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught@nekutis, Old Town, Vilnius
Nut brown color, good creamy off-white head. Light woody-hayish, slightly diacetylic nose. Light to medium-bodied. Toffee, caramel with light minerally sourness. Lingering toffee sweetness in the aftertaste. Ok.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium beige head doesnt last. Deep brown body. Faint earthy roasty aroma. Dry dusty strawy earthy taste with sweetish chocolatey notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, smooth mouthfeel. Sweetish earthy floral roasty aftertaste with herbal caramelly butter notes. Interesting, complex, and unusual. Lots going on, and all of it quite subtle. (0.33l draft at Bix Baras, Vilnius.)
