Cask at the CASK Pub & Kitchen on 23 July 2010. Amber with a lacing off-white head. Yeasty aroma and light herby hoppiness, and a hint of ginger/spice - but only just a hint. Citric back-taste on the roof of the mouth, leading to a hoppy finish. Smooth if slightly watery texture.

Cask, handpump at The Green Man, Bristol, 28.01.12 Pours hazy amber with a white rim. There is a little bit of butteryness on the nose and less so in the mouth. This isn’t that refreshing or crisp as the description suggests, being more bland and unexciting in my opinion. A6 A3 T5 P3 Ov11 2.8

Cask conditioned at Moreton in Marsh Beer Fest ’11. Amber to copper with white head. Biscuity, mid malt, some roastiness, then a syrupy, strawberry flavour, not sure where that comes from. I don’t get a lasting crisp note but it’s still ok.

’Green Barrel Pale Ale’, The Crown, Nuneaton. Deep bronze (not pale) with a thick whipped head. Some dusty carpet and farmyard aroma. Cleaner, toasty malt with dry roasted, nutty hints. Cream and edgy yeast; a bit dirty. Soporific.

Cask conditioned handpump Cask & Kitchen Pimlico. A mid brown coloured beer with barely any head. It’s a bit farty in the nose leading to an earthy leafy taste. Fart and fruit. An ordinary English beer.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2009 Cask-conditioned at the Portcullis, Clifton, Bristol 3/2/09. Deep amber in colour with a slight, off-white head. Sweet malty aroma and flavour, with a hint of grassy hops and decent bitter finish. Ok. Exclusive to Dawkins’ taverns in Bristol.
