3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bobinlondon (1179) - Harrow, - FEB 6, 2011
Gravity cask at the Mertom (Oxon) Winter BF. Amber with a white collar. A little too sweet for my tastes but in fairness it was following some pretty punchy offerings in a high quality festival line up.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 downender (4389) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 18, 2011
Cask-conditioned at the Cornubia, 17/09/2011. Deep gold with a billowy white head. Slightly sweet aroma, with some apricot and citrus fruit and a hoppy edge. Flavour was similar, with some solid, slightly earthy malts and a big, bitter finish. Good.

Handpull, The Slug, Leicester, 14/08/11. Full gold, low white top. Bitter orange, slightly leafy, bile-flecked lemon zest, catty hop aroma. Firm and juicy with an orange peel and almond creaminess, good gritty malt thickness, dunked biscuit. Pale nutty afters. Very drinkable stuff.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 leaparsons (6324) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - AUG 12, 2011
Cask, Slug & Lettuce, Leicester. Hazy gold with an off-white head. Aromas are biscuit and lemon with honey and floral, woody pine. Flavours are toffee malts with dry, woody notes and honey and lemon. Herbal with yeast and hints of pear. Dry with a white wine finish. Very much like Youngs’ Bengal IPA. Fruity and hoppy. Good stuff.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Fin (5749) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 6, 2011
Cask gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival 04.02.11 Pours amber with white frothy head. Plenty of honey and malt flavours come through initially but shortly afterwards there is a clear, tangy fruitiness and bitter finish. If everyone who had this, had bothered voting for this beer then this would clearly have been ’Beer of The Festival’ however despite it’s popularity and the fact that it was a jolly decent drop it didn’t receive the most paper votes. A very good beer and whilst not quite up there with some IPA’s in terms of hoppiness and bitterness it appealed to the masses. A7 A3 T8 P4 Ov15 3.7
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 6, 2011
Cask, gravity, at Merton Winter Beer Festival ’11. Copper colour. Intense apricot and pear drop aroma with a touch of banana. Sweet taste with fruit and honey. If Glen says gooseberry, then I agree with him. Sharp bitter finish. Anyway, this was top beer of the festival for me.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 imdownthepub (7473) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 6, 2011
Cask conditioned at Merton Winter Beer Fest ’11 with Hughie & Fin. Amber with white head. Honeyed maltiness overlaid with an apricot, peachy fleshy hop note, quite complex and rich on the palate. The late flavour is of gooseberry, tart and drying. Very decent.
