The Pug, DC tap ($6): Pours a cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma is of citrus and malt. Taste is kind of sweet and citrusy. Plenty of malt. Not the most interesting beer in the world, but it is ok.

On tap at Churchkey. Served in a mini snifter.
Pours a light caramel color with a thin head and a bit of lacing. The nose brings loads of grain and a bit of bread. Faint tannin character there as well. The flavor has loads of grain and moderate tannin. Light-medium body and a slight hop bitterness. Not my favorite from DC Brau.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GT2 (3961) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 19, 2011
Tap at Churchkey. The pour is a clear, light orange with pretty weak head. Very little formation. Nose is sweet orange and German malty like a Vienna or Helles. Taste is sweet, grainy, clearly German in profile with some bitter orange and potpourri to balance. Quite nice with a sessionable but rich palate. Very clean. Good amounts of toffee and caramel. Would like to try again. On track to be DC Brau’s best beer- just needs that proper carbonation.

Draft at Churchkey. Poured a hazy orange color, small white head. Aroma was sweet, malty. Flavor was way too sweet - it was a bit like brown sugar/syrup. Was drinkable, but not nearly as enjoyable as I had hoped.

Draft at Churchkey. Slightly hazy orange yellow pour. I was not a fan of this. I found it incredibly soapy though no one else in the group had the same impression. Malty aroma with a bit of chocolate. Citrus, lemon nand pepper notes. A little bit of sweetness.

Candy and bready nose with lots of honey and flowers. Taste is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, with herbal hops, cotton candy and lots of honey. Very solid. Closer to a Helles than Heller Bock.

Growler. Pours lightly hazy orange/amber with a large, frothy white head, long retention with great lacing. Aroma is toasted grain, cereal, and meal malt with light spicy hops and a clean lager character. Flavor is lightly toasted malt, meal and cereal with light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation.
