Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown tap ($6): Pours a mahogany color with a beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, dried fruit, a bit of Danzig, some booze, and yeast. Taste is predictable. Somewhat sweet, but not cloyingly. Alcohol is generally well covered. Doesn’t force sipping. Some degree of complexity, but isn’t really crafted to perfection. I was unimpressed for this did not go where eagles dare.

Served in a DC Brau cervoise. Thanks, Matt. Nose has a good dose of dark fruit. Flavor is fairly fruity with some honey. Not too much yeast. Medium body. Too sweet for me.

Draft at Novemberfest at Rustico last weekend. Poured a murky light brown color with a light off-white head. Aroma was sweet dried fruit notes, caramel, candi sugar, some spice character. Flavor was dried fruits, caramel, some alcohol is certainly in there - but it’s a lot more mellow than the 10.5% woudl suggest. Relatively enjoyable.

Draft. Small beige head, hazy amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, toffee, prune, light acetone. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, some golden raisin/prune, light alcohol. Medium-full body, low carbonation, some stickiness.

Growler from the brewery, pours a murky, orange brown with some creamy, off white head. Nose of raisins, apricot, caramel, candy sugar, pineapple, clove, rum cake. Flavor is sweet, candy sugar, banana, clove, some tropical fruit, rum. Full bodied, sticky finish. Not really a quad, based on the classic sense. Sort of like an imperial Octoberfest. Good, but I think they could do better for a fall beer.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Travlr (8186) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - NOV 4, 2012
Growler from the source. Cloudy variegated golden brown color, small beige head. Aroma of boozy caramel, summer fruit, light spice. Taste is also a bit boozy prunes, apricots, caramel. Not bad.

Growler thanks to Travlr. Pours a full haze murky orange. Bubbly yellowish foam. Weak formation. Nose is sticky gummies, salt, orange juice, fresh pumpkin. Taste is a bit cloying, very sugary, small nutmeg and cinnamon. A bit medicinal.

Growler shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt.
The beer is light orange with ample carbonation / effervescence. Atop the beer sits a quarter inch of white, fizzy head. The aroma brings sweet malt, fruity esters, alcohol. Sweet throughout. This is more of a Belgian strong ale than a quad, in my opinion. Decent flavor, but a bit hot and sweet for my liking. Eh..
