And so it was written.......
According to Mayan and Hopi calendars the "transition from one world age to another" will happen on December 21, 2012. As an homage to the "transition" DC Brau has concocted an Imperial IPA named "On the Wings of Armageddon".

Grapefruit and pine aroma. Taste is bitter and hoppy, not as citrusy as the aroma. Very smooth and malty, not overly boozy. Delicious and well done DIPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared at Chriso’s Travlr last minute tasting. Many thanks to Gene. Translucent yellow / straw coloured pour with a small frothy head. Aroma is light caramel, lemon, dank hop, Flavour is composed of sticky resinous pine, dank, light lemon, Palate is chewy hop, resinous, highish carbonation. Really good stuff.

Into a tulip showing a well filtered amber with no head. The nose shows a lot of intense dry pine and cannabis. The palate shows a lot of the same flavors with a very sharp and cutting pine. Light bodied, well carbonated, and a moderate bitterness.

Can, 9.2%, thanks to Travlr for my first Washington DC beer! Hazy orange, some suspended particles, still, small foamy white head. Aroma is passionfruit, tangerine, pine. Body is medium to light, tingly carbonation, slightly foamy. Taste is piney, straw, dry and chalky finish. Decent enough DIPA. Very quaffable.

(Thanks, Gene! "Travlr") Can. A- Juicy, citrus, caramel, bitter, malty. A- Orange color, cloudy liquid, tan head. T- Citrus, bready, caramel, malty, bitter, juicy, balanced, chewy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Not knowing a lot about this beer going into it I imagined a very bitter and aggressive IPA. I was wrong in the best way possible. Very balanced with a nice citrus, bitter, malty combination. Didn’t like the yeast floating around in there but that can be overlooked.

More backlog. Can. Pours out a nice copper color with a moderate off white head. Aroma is of lots of juicy citrus, bitter caramel hard candy, some pine and sweet alcohol. Taste is like a hop infused caramel candy, nice balance with some pine, citrus and mild tell of the alcohol. Solid, well balanced, but leaning a little too far to the malty side to be world class in my book.

A badass name and a badass can do not necessarily make for a badass beer. Although On the Wings of Armageddon has both, nothing can compare to awesomeness lurking inside the aluminium. This Imperial IPA pours a hazy orange with a modest, even head. Aroma has tropical hops and an impressive malt bill. The latter element is crucial. You need a lot of malt to keep 115 IBU’s from being crushing. It works remarkably well. Yes, this brew is resinous and crisp. However, you get far more than just bitterness. Grass, sticky nectar, tropical fruit - all in big portions. Finish is super dry with lingering sweetness. For an extra jolt of apocalyptic chaos, I paired On the Wings of Armageddon with Napalm Death’s "On the Brink of Extinction." Highly recommended.

Tap @ Fire Works Pizza Leesburg - there is nothing I hate more than a bitter hop bomb. Fortunately, this is not one. Don’t get me wrong, it does have some bitterness present, it is an imperial IPA after all, but is balances by the citrus, straw thing happening. Very nicely done!

Semi dry finish after a not-as-sweet-as-it-first-starts beginning. Great hops. I’m glad I saved this from being crushed.

Can via Sylvain at Luc’s. Dark amber with an off white head. Papaya, tangerine, some other mixed citrus, some caramel malt, moderate body and carbonation, smoothy with a stronger malt presence on the palate, finishes somewhat dry with some resin. Good.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazed amber with a thin white head. Big spicy hops on the nose, bright citrus. Warm and spicy, lots of juicy dank citrus. Loads of grapefruit, pungent, with dune warming alcohol.
