Appearance: Pours dark brown with a tight knit tan film.
Aroma: Chocolaty roast, light hop fragrance.
Taste: Roasted malt, a touch smokey. A little bit of pleasant tartness too.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: A very drinkable porter, not a thing wrong with it. I would like to try this on draft and barrel aged.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 radio_nowhere (440) - Maryland, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Bomber into snifter glass. Deep brown color with a finger of brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, milk chocolate, and dark coffee. Some dark fruit and some vanilla notes. Taste is the aroma, roasted malt sweetness with some smokiness character. Balanced with faint bitter hops. Medium mouth-feel, oily, smooth and creamy. Lasting coffee and bitter hop aftertaste. Very good stuff, add this to the canning line.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Brigadier (2275) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - JAN 27, 2013
22 ounce bottle
Thanks to tastybeer for sharing this one evening. It might have been a bit past its prime but showed some promise. I would love to try a fresh bottle to see if it is better (as I suspect).
Aroma / Appearance - The fluid black base offers promise of a rich experience. A chocolately mocha head releases coffee, chocolate, and sweet hints. The evidence of problems comes in the form of a slightly bitter tang.
Flavor / Palate - Tartness permeates through the coffee. If it were intentional I’d say it works well but knowing it should not be there detracts from a balanced profile. Take that away and this would be a nice run of the mill local.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MadRobin (1061) - Silver Spring, USA - JAN 22, 2013
Poured from 22 oz. bottle.
Opaque deep brown with 2-finger brown head and very good lacing.
Aroma of roasted malt, charred toast, roasted dark coffee, dark fruit, licorice, vanilla and grain.
Tasted of over-roasted dark coffee, grain, roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla, licorice and caramel. A bitter, charred start slides into more complex, fruity flavors and finishes with a touch of caramel sweetness. Robust and wonderful.
Full/medium body and medium carbonation.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jgb9348 (4027) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JAN 20, 2013
Deep, super pitch black coloured body with a dense, three centimetre tall deep light brown head - about 80% opaque in the body with a hint of cola colours coming through when held to a light. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, concord grapes, grass, nuts and a hint of spice. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasty malt flavour with oatmeal and milk notes perceptable with a hint of squash, but the caramel comes out along with a bit of figs and a good amount of milk sourness and sugars. Aftertaste shows quite a bit of body with the malt really picking up any other flavours, some caramel sugars and a hint of light fruitiness at the end. Overall, a nice and rather full-bodied (for a porter) beer with an emphasis on caramelised sugars, roasted malt and lactic notes - definitely good to sample, and although not easy to find, worth searching out for. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Fern Street Gourmet in Alexandria, Virginia on 07-July-2012 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington a few hours before the 2013 Inauguration here, on 20-January-2013.

So have this in a 500ml bottle so not sure about draft only. Black with a generous mocha head that settles to a nice light brown covering throughout the drinking experience. Quite roasted malt, some smoke, some cocoa powder with more coffee. Moderate carbonation, mild body, a slightly odd hint of citrus on the palate with a sweetness that comes out before things get a little dry with more roasted malts.

Draft. Dark brown pour, head is tannish. Nice dry roast, cocoa, toasted bread, and chocolate. A bit thin, but overall quite nice.
