3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
22 ounce bottle
Thanks to tastybeer for sharing this one evening. It might have been a bit past its prime but showed some promise. I would love to try a fresh bottle to see if it is better (as I suspect).
Aroma / Appearance - The fluid black base offers promise of a rich experience. A chocolately mocha head releases coffee, chocolate, and sweet hints. The evidence of problems comes in the form of a slightly bitter tang.
Flavor / Palate - Tartness permeates through the coffee. If it were intentional I’d say it works well but knowing it should not be there detracts from a balanced profile. Take that away and this would be a nice run of the mill local.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a can. Pours deep black with short tan head, not much retention or lacing. Notes of roasted malt " like fresh bread" some coffee and cocoa... All of those elements in the flavor profile ... Practically a Stout... Tasty!

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
Can at Marquis Theatre. This is a serious American porter. This is the closest thing I’ve found to my beloved Founders porter. The seaweedy quality is there with tree bark, whole bean coffee, chocolate, earth, slight piney nips, and a nuttiness. This is beautifully interesting. It’s very malty with an excellent bittersweet balance. I love this stuff.
