The Citizen can best be summed up as "a trip around the world in a can". We start off with our classic recipe that contains American and British hops, and pair them with a distinctive Belgian yeast for a taste that brings together a little bit of everywhere. The Citizen’s nose is of delicate yet floral hops, becoming more fragrant as it warms. This, along side a sweet malt finish, strikes a wonderfully drinkable balance that will bring you all the way back to our nation’s capital. Become a Citizen of the world, one sip at a time!

Cans on sale at whole foods. Cloudy orange color with a thin white head and foam that rims the glass. Aroma of apple, pear and yeast. Taste is carbonated with pear juice and apple juice. Palate is flat despite the carbonated start. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I can see why it just won an award. Sweet aroma with a golden hue. Not a thick head. Nice malty and sweet combination. A definite do again.

Pours a golden straw with loose and quickly dissipating head. Nose is almost all yeast with only faint hop notes. Light body with high effervescence full of Belgian character with only the faintest bitterness. Lingers with mild sweetness that better resembles the pale ale style. Pretty drinkable beer, but not really well illustrative of the interest that can be drawn out in this mix of styles. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Transfer from BA review on 4-21-13- Poured from can into a chalice glass Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed golden color with a small white head. The head fades relatively quickly leaving a light level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell-The aroma is a biggest of a yeasty smell with lots of banana, coriander, clove and a little bit of lemon. Mixed with these more standard Belgian smells are some rather sweet candy and bubblegum aromas, giving it a rather sweet smell overall. Taste – The taste begins with a malty and sweet taste with flavors of yeast present right from the start. The bready flavors create a base of the beer with the sweet initially being of a more sugary candy nature mixed with a decent amount of a tangerine sweetness. As the flavors advance, more yeast and flavors associated with yeast of clove, banana, and coriander come to the tongue. These flavors combined with a big sugary taste as well as a light alcohol at the end to leave a sweet and yeasty flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to creamier with a carbonation level that was on the average side as well. Both are rather nice for the style and produce a nice balance between drinkability as well as allowing all the flavors of the brew to be sensed by the tongue. Overall – A nice Belgian that has a taste profile in between that of a Belgian session and a triple. Quite tasty.

thought this was highly drinkable, and appropriate in every way. creamy and thick and sudsy on the tongue. Belgian Abby spice tasted and seen in brew. easy sweetness and not overpowering yet not a timid offering. good stuff. light orange look to it.

My least favorite of the DC brau offerings. Overly sweet, too much candy sugar in the flavor. Has some floral qualities to it and the belgian banana yeast is there.

Not much aroma, and lacking in hops for a pale ale. Initial taste reminded me of portabella mushrooms. Not great aftertaste.

Can from trade. Pours golden yellow, white head. Aroma of spicey yeast, no real hop aroma. Taste is fruity, very much so. Again, no hop bitterness, even for a bpa. Not a fan.
