COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Citizen can best be summed up as "a trip around the world in a can". We start off with our classic recipe that contains American and British hops, and pair them with a distinctive Belgian yeast for a taste that brings together a little bit of everywhere. The Citizen’s nose is of delicate yet floral hops, becoming more fragrant as it warms. This, along side a sweet malt finish, strikes a wonderfully drinkable balance that will bring you all the way back to our nation’s capital. Become a Citizen of the world, one sip at a time!

Fresh and bright on the hop side of the equation. A little flat on the malt side and not terribly balanced at the finish. The yeast gets a little confused amid the hop citrus. There is plenty of interest here, but too much to allow focus.

Foggy, golden yellow color with an average head and lacing. The aroma is Belgian ale; strong, yeasty, warm malt and citrus and banana notes. There is a lot of hops in the flavor. Almost like a Belgian style IPA. Dry, crisp in the finish.

12oz can, thanks to caterwaul. Shared with b3shine. Totally hazy golden - orange color. Good thin slightly off-white head. Little crooked rows of lace. Some banana and tropical fruit in the nose. Medium body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Kind of a lightly creamy mouthfeel, with the belgian yeast, still kind of crisp at the same time too, though. Light bitter taste, some zesty sweetness. Solid belgian ale.

Can to taster (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks solid; a cloudy orange with white lacing. Smells of Belgian yeast, dough, and hops. Tastes of Belgian yeast, hops, and citrus with a nice mouthfeel. Not bad.

12oz can, unknown date. Served at around 40-45F.

Pours slightly hazy golden amber with a one finger white head that leaves a ring of lacing and settles to a small cap.

Aroma is belgian yeast, fruity, lemon, banana, touch of bubblegum, earthy, bready. Good to very good strength.

Flavor is fairly hoppy with lemon citrus, a little banana, overall rather fruity, some yeast and bread, sweet malt in the middle and end, mild alcohol, good bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little sticky, good carbonation.

Normally not a big Belgian Pale Ale fan, but this is pretty good! Nice ’n hoppy with a good Belgian yeast presence.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy gold with light head and lace. Notes of honey, wheat, floral hops, pretty grainy.

I had thought I already rated this one, probably let the can sit around too long...not one to be aged. Unfiltered orange-tan. Creamy, lacy white head. Kind of bitter resinous oily aged hop aroma. Sweet and sugary, not really capturing the essence of any style well. A yeasty tripel-saison-blonde? Not bad, just not that desirable either.

Can into snifter glass. Golden color with reddish hue and white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast [bannana/citrus fruit, spices (clove, some pepper)]. Taste is the aroma, bready with some earthy hops to balance the sweetness. Medium body, creamy and smooth. Interesting brew, not my fav from DC Brau but not bad.

12 oz. can courtesy of Queenholly. Thanks much for the D.C. brew. A nice hazy gold with a thin ring of head in a Trappist glass. Aroma is fruity with yeast and some spicy notes. The flavor is pretty nice. The flavor has small amounts of yeast. Light Belgian spice with light citrus hop bitterness. Lighter in body and easy enough to drink.
