3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bmerz (465) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - NOV 24, 2012
Growler from the brewery drank within 6 hours of pouring. Hazy copper amber with fleeting head and some lace. It’s a very bitter, strong fresh hop monster in both aroma and flavor. Funky, tropical, and pine hope aromas are not so forward that they don’t let through a moderately sweet wort. The flavor is fresh grapefruit hops, a good amount of spice and hop oils, plenty of pine and a little sweetness. Not really balanced but that’s just fine. The texture is resiny but fresh and lively. Love it that a there’s another brewery on the east coast that knows how to make this kind of hop centric beer.

One of the best East Coast IPAs I?ve had. In addition to the perfectly hopped flavor, it has a freshing, hoppy scent with a hint of Christmas tree. So beautiful in a glass, you can?t resist drinking it!

Solid IPA. Not much else to say about it. Made in DC, so that’s pretty cool. As far as I can tell, it’s one of 3 breweries in DC, so it’s nice to see they can make a decent beer to style. Definitely the AMERICAN style of IPA.

Poured up on tap at GABF 2012 with a pure gold body that exhibits a slight hop haze and supports a white head of foam. The aroma offers up snippets of citrus hops running into a bit of spicy hops and a slight sort of earthiness. The taste has a pine like hop bitterness and blends into a grapefruit hop note. Midway and into the finish I get some earthy to spicy hops joining the fun and adding a pleasing level of depth to the experience. Nice IPA.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ROGUE (1566) - Newark, Delaware, USA - OCT 29, 2012
On tap. Pours a deep clear golden color with a two finger white fluffy head that falls to a ring. Aroma is a managerie of hops with orange, lemon, light pine, mild tropical fruit and floral notes. Taste is similar to the nose with a moderate malt backbone of caramel malts, but not that sweet. Hops come on strong, with flavors of pine, pine resin, and grapefruit. Earthy and somewhat woody with some herbal notes on the finish. Medium bodied, lower carbonation, creamy and a bitter aftertaste that lingers.

Sampled at GABF 2012. Another IPA that stood out. Primarily citrus but not overpowering. A bit of cereal grain taste sneaks in too. Good balance. Would like to try their variations on this beer.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 drfabulous (2948) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - OCT 15, 2012
Sampled at GABF. Malty. Slightly Hoppy. Light body and taste. My last tasting of the session, so who knows how accurate this assessment is. I know I had it though.

12oz can, $2 at Beer Run, poured into a snifter. Good, foamy thin white head. Totally hazy amber color. Tons of particles suspended in the glass, very cool-looking. Head leaves plenty lace. Very nice big hoppy flavor - pine, grapefruit, resin, some floral. Orange zest, light pepper in the finish. Big assertive bitterness. Smooth carbonation, kind of a creamy texture. Thicker finish, moderate-to-big body. A great IPA for lovers of IPAs. "Dank" describes it well.
