Can @ Dan’s house. Strangely enough, I acquired two cans of this in one week: one from foppa78 and one from beerandblues2 via ratman. Thanks for the dc tick. Hazy orange appearance with a tan head. Mild floral, orange hoppy, pale malty aroma. Slightly tangy, floral, herbal hoppy, somewhat bitter, pale malty flavor.

Tap at Meridian Pint for the official release. Pours a hazed, deeper yellow to orange/gold topped by a fairly rocky, yellowish head. Not a hell of a lot of retention or lace. Aroma is caramel, lemon, orange candy, sweat. Taste is dry, bitter, very soapy, oatmeal malty. Really gets massively soapy and extremely bitter. Thick, hoppy, full-bodied. A little too intense for APA- would do better as IPA.

Canned, thanks to gt2 in trade for my 51st state, clear dark orange color with lots of cottony foam, aroma is sweet citrus fruit with a nice malty citric flavor, good bitter finish

Can at a tasting at James’s place. Pours a hazed gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Soft spicy hops on the nose, a bit of malt. Medium bodied, spicy bitter hops. Malt, a touch of spicyness. Earthy finish with a bit of pith.

33cl can courtesy of Travlr.

12-oz can. Thanks Bob! Pours a somewhat murky dark amber. Loose sudsy white head. Green onions and garlic on the nose. Sweet grapefruit too. Creamy medium body with prickly carb. Toast, caramel, and onion mid-palate. Hot onion finish.

Can. Odd, rustic pour, chunkier than some chili I’ve eaten in my life, with big ol’ dallops of brewing sediment just hanging out in the murky orange-amber stew. Big rocky head. The initial introduction to the palate hints at a robust piney pale ale, but it instantly scatters into an almost watery concoction, with enough of a hoppy appeal to be worthy of the label, but strangely mismatched with a visual that makes you think you’re going to be chew on it. 12oz. Can: Got in trade from phaleslu; THANKS Peter! Aroma of malt, caramel, hops, grass, and a hint of herbalness. Poured amber/orange in color with a large, creamy, dense, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Very hazy. Sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is slightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of malt, hops, grass, and slight caramel. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt, light caramel, grass and hop finish is slightly sweet and medium bitter. A nice APA.

On tap at Rustico in Alexandria. Served in a pint glass. Pours a nice orange color with a thick white head and some good spotty lacing as it makes its way down the glass. The nose is pretty hoppy with a bit of a malt undertone, though not too much of the latter. A good bit of pine, floral, and citrus hops. Cornucopia of possibilities right there, my friend. The flavor is along the same lines. Not too hoppy, but not too much malt, either. Really nice and drinkable. "Balanced" in the sense that it contained hops and malt, but the latter was more just a base helping out the mouthfeel than providing much flavor or sweetness. Good bitterness in the finish. Fairly light body. Really solid; can’t wait for the cans of this to hit the market. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 04-26-2011
