COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stone of Arbroath has a rich, sweet malty aroma with mellow notes of plum and brown sugar. The mouthfeel has a "mineral-like" softness with highlights of deep caramelized malt derived from a 90 min boil which encourages caramelizing of dense wort sugars complemented by a subtle roast character that finishes with a mild acridity that pleasantly coats ones mouth. Coming in at a warming and subdued 8% ABV it will definitely ruffle many a kilt this spring.

Can. Very dark ruby. Sweet roasted caramel aroma, hint of chocolate, toffee, and coffee. The taste adds burnt/caramelized brown sugar and dark fruit. Excellent full bodied chewy mouthfeel. Perfect abv at 8% leaving a warm note on the finish. I’m definitely glad I picked this up. A great representation of the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can [from Secret Santa 2014 edition, thanks beerandblues2] @ home. Dark brown color with a deep dark red glare coming through, medium sized beige head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, dark malts, brown sugar, caramel. Taste malts, dark malts, brown sugar, caramel, some bitterness hidden in the distance, a bit sweetish up front. Medium body and carbonation.

Another 12 oz. can purchased at The Beer Shoppe, Ardmore, PA. Deep ruby color that light will not penetrate, shows a fluffy thicker head that stays until the last drop of brew. Aroma is caramelized sugar, syrupy molasses and light roast.

Flavor is pretty much what it should be. Heavy on toffee, mild dark fruit with a toasted grain like body. The finish is real sweet with a light fruity note. Body is a bit thin and borderline cloying. Light taste of alcohol. For me it’s just ok.

Can at HOTB. Best scotch ale I've had. Probably because it doesn't conform to the standards. Aroma of caramel and roasted coffee. Tasted sweet and roasty. Thick mouthfeel. Loved it.

Pours an opaque ruby/brown with a medium tan head. Aroma has mild roastiness with a notable cocoa scent. Flavor has sone of that cocoa poking through but nice hoppy/bitter earthiness, dark fruits and burnt toffee. Mouthfeel is medium/full and chewy with a caramel/brown sugar finish fading to earthy bitterness.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a murky brown color with a large foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was wood, smoke, malt, a touch of fruity hops and was a bit medicinal. The flavor was woody and bitter with roasty malt, a hint of smoke, faint fruity hops and an undertone of medicine and tobacco. Long finish. Medium body. Quite disappointing.
