Stone of Arbroath has a rich, sweet malty aroma with mellow notes of plum and brown sugar. The mouthfeel has a "mineral-like" softness with highlights of deep caramelized malt derived from a 90 min boil which encourages caramelizing of dense wort sugars complemented by a subtle roast character that finishes with a mild acridity that pleasantly coats ones mouth. Coming in at a warming and subdued 8% ABV it will definitely ruffle many a kilt this spring.

Draft at the brewery served in a plastic pint glass; clear browni’ish dark amber color with off-white head. Aroma notes of heavy toffee malt, some light cocoa and citrus hops. Taste adds caramel/brown sugar sweetness, some nuttiness and fruity hop bitterness. Medium body, low-moderate carbonation, creamy, sticky with sweet roast finish. Pretty solid scotch ale.

12 oz can into a pint. Thanks Max! Pours a dark red with a finger of tan foam. Nose is toffee, butterscotch, light citrus hops and some tobacco. Taste is smooth toffee and caramel with some roasted malts, coffee and lightly bitter hops. Creamy mouth feel. Over all a solid enough scotch ale.

12oz can, tasted during RBWG. Clear red brown amber color. Thin ring of off-white head. Dots and bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Not 8% big. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Light slick finish. Some fruity hops, mild caramel malt, toasty malt, mild smoke. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, light to moderate sweet. Solid stuff -- bit hoppier than your typical scotch ale though, seems to rely on that a bit.
