The ale pours golden with a light orange hue and small off white head. The aroma is my favorite part - a blend of viney earthy sultanas and bananas just like it reads on the label. The flavor is not the best part - earthy plantain flavors on a lighter ale with a smooth body. Not much flavor unfortunately. Great price though.

750ml pours a light golden amber. Lot sof sediment in the 2nd pour. hints of banana in the nose plus lots of bread and raw dough. moderate cabonation. tastes like a belgian pale with a banana aftertaste. not great but not terrible. i enjoyed it actually but probably won’t be stocking the cellar with bottles. Cool Label and worth the novelty of trying it. If you see one give it a shot.

Capped 750 from Bottle Barn. Pours dark hazy gold with a transient creamy off-white head. Aroma smells like raisin muffins. Flavor is banana, cooked banana, with some sweetish caramel/raisin flavor. Stuff is passing unusual. I don’t know whether I can consume the whole thing or not. My feelings change from quaff to quaff. Seems to go a bit towards honey with time. This one is unique. And based on the label, what does a midlle eastern costume have to do with bananas?

I am still not sure why I picked this up but the novelty wore off soon after taking a sip. This is a beer that makes you wonder what was going on in the head of the brewers as they were putting together a recipe. The final product is a near disaster that you should stay away from. At $12.99 it isn’t the most expensive mistake you can make but unless you have a use for 2/3rds of the bottle I’d suggest picking up something else.

Aroma / Appearance - Bubbly, the bottle foamed the second it was exposed to air. After a few minutes enough headspace formed to safely pour a glass. The resulting liquid was a carbonated golden bronze with crisp white peaks. It smelled as if somebody had poured a banana cupcake into the glass. Sweet with the smell of cheap frosting and banana chips the aroma is still somehow decent enough to merit a closer inspection.

Flavor / Palate - Fermented laffy taffy (complete with wrappers) filled the mouth upon taking a sip. Sugary and sweet like an alcopop gone wrong the beer begins to fall to pieces at this point. Whatever respect I had evaporated along with the remainder of the bottle as it went down the drain. There are plenty of worse beers out there with more pronounced flaws but the timing on this could not have been worse. Thank goodness others brought solid beer to get the palate back into focus.

OK, I’m gonna say right off the bat that I liked this WAY more than I thought I would. Definitely smells like banana, though maybe in a slightly artificial way, like perhaps Now or Later or Runts candy. Flavor is banana - banana bread, actually - with notes of vanilla and walnuts and toast. Pretty enjoyable, actually.

Bottle shared by a local BA member. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a medium sized thin white head. The aroma is sweet bananas and some additional green fruity notes (apples?). The flavor is banana, yeast, additional fruits with a doughy maltiness. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. This was not as bad as advertised, but still is nothing more than a novelty.

On tap at GBBF 2010, 3rd Aug 2010. Cloudy orange. Great nose - banana and sultanas as promised. Incredibly drinkable - fruity yet not over sweet. Still very beery/ Perfect liveliness on the tongue. A real surprise find of the festival for me.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2010 Bottle. Pours orange with white head. Lots of sediment. Nose of farmhouse, basement aromas and tons of banana. Taste is like a banana farmhouse ale. Some raisin. Very funky.

This is a very drinkable and surprisingly decent banana/raisin beer. It’s a slightly hazy wheat beer with quite a bit more alcohol punch. Aroma is of strong estery banana, vanilla, clove, and hints at barnyard. Carbonation is effervescent and it keeps a thick cap of dense white foam. Slightly creamy initial mouthfeel gives way to a fairly dry finish. Tastes a bit astringent, a little tart, and even slightly metallic, the banana character is overwhelming and definitely is the focal point of this beer.
