courtesy of Justin Ever since drinking the Dju Dju Banana beer, I have kept a bad memory of the banana themed beer. Aroma is filled with banana and sultana (dried seedless grape). The aftertaste leaves the lingering banana mouthfeel. Drink this one cold, because as it warms up the flavor reminded me a lot of spoiled babyfood (to just stay PC). Overall, the beer is sweet / fruity, a change from the usual dark fruits or citrus, but the end result is just poor.

Pours a hazy straw color with sugary bananas of all sorts and sizes in the aroma. Flavor is banana, brown and white sugar, strawberry, and bubble gum in the flavor. The finish leaves a sweetness reminiscent of Smartees that lingers, but morphs into a tiny ounce of bitterness.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of banana candy and honey, light note of plastic. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Smells kinda artificial (plasticky banana taffy), though it probably isn’t. The aftertaste is a bit tainted too. Not very enjoyable.

Pours turbid orange with 2-finger head. Nose is dry florals, malt funk, banana, and honey. Tastes ion the sweet side, with solid banana flavor, some apricot, honey, hops, and slight funk. Better than I thought it might be.

750ml Bottle: Sweet aroma. Smells of raisins, banana, spices, and a little toffee. Poured amber/orange in color with a large, creamy, dense, white head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Full of medium and large particles. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of bananas, cream, fruit, spices, and some toffee. Medium body. Chalky texture. Soft carbonation. Dry, sweet, banana finish.

Angeloregon (2055) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 6, 2008
Bottle from Belmont Station--Poured a hazy, chunky orange-golden body with a fluffy white head. Metallic, nutty, clove and real banana nose. Some bubblegum and skinky sulfur notes. Esters were not as bananay and pronounces as some Bavarian hefes. Got better as beer progressed, but overall, not as exciting or innovative as I had hoped.

Bottle… Cloudy yellow ale with a mid-sized, wispy, white head. Decent retention. The sweet, musty aroma provides green apples, bananas and sultanas. Medium to full-bodied with fizzy carbonation. The yeasty, fruity flavor is all banana bread and sultana. Far more balanced than the aroma suggests. Nice, minerally hops. Finishes off modestly sweet and fruity.
