3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jerohen (1863) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - SEP 13, 2005
On draft at the Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Hazy yellow coloured, small white head. Naturally, bananas are dominant in aroma. Besides bananas perhaps some other fruit in flavour, not overly sweet like some other examples of the style. Best banana-beer i’ve had so far (which, i must say, wasn’t a real challenge).
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 caesar (3929) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - SEP 11, 2005
Draft, Arendsnest. Slightly hazy golden color, short white head. Aroma of banana, bit spicy. Bit bitter and fruity taste, dry. It is not as extremely sweet as most banana beers, so it is actually drinkable.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 maeib (7542) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JUN 14, 2005
Bottled. A hazy yellow/blonde coloured beer with a little whitish head. The aroma and taste are more sultanas than banana but neither of them really show themselves that much. The taste isn’t particularly pleasant but it does get less inoffensive as the glass empties. Maybe a little spice and certainly some sweetness. Ok but not to be repeated.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bitter (1136) - Henderson, Nevada, USA - AUG 10, 2004
bottled at gbbf: wanting to try something different (not a cask ale) we hopped over to the international beer and tried this little beer. not nearly as bad as the rates suggest in my opinion. very much a belgium tripel tasting beer with notes of wheat, bubblegum, sugar and BANANA...better then most fruit beers in that the banana is not overpowering and you can taste the backbone of the beer pushing thorugh. not bad. not bad at all.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 chriso (7254) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 20, 2004
Funnily enough, although I could detect the banana and fruity notes, in the aroma, they did not dominate the flavour too much. Mind you, it was my 13th beer of the night, so my palate may have been a little jaded by then. Quite bitter and slightly sour in the mouth. Nothing very exciting, but not unpleasant. Bottled at the Catford Beer Festival.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Hildigöltur (5106) - København, DENMARK - OCT 27, 2003
Everything in this beer is banana. It's far too overwhelming. They could have made it less offensive.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 duff (5484) - Lund, SWEDEN - AUG 3, 2003
Smells like urinal cakes and banana lollies. Really sweet. really bad, some bruised banana mixed in there with the sweet lollies, some redeeming sourness and dryness, but no way near enough.
1.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 SilkTork (4898) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - NOV 24, 2002
The worst banana flavoured beer I’ve tried. Trendy sheep dip for old goats.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 leaparsons (7069) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 22, 2002
Oddly enough there are banana and sultana notes in both flavour and aroma. This is a pleasant enough but rather bland beer.
2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 bierkoning (8944) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - JUL 22, 2002
Overwhelming aroma of banana’s, lemon and grape sugar. Yeasty taste with banana, raisins and herbs. Yeasty, bitter aftertaste. Wonderful aroma, but the taste is a turnoff.
