Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of malt and spices - strongest is ginger. The flavor is sweet and very spicy combined with notes of alcohol and caramel, leading to a dry and lightly roasted finish. Too spicy for my liking.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of MiP. Pours a hazy dark reddish amber with a dense off-white head. Lightly tart cough syrup like aroma. Full-bodied with a soft mouth feel, a lightly woody tartness and an edge of licorice. Lightly tart finish. Interesting. 220309

Bottle 33cl. @ home.
Unclear medium red amber orange color with a large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dark berrys, raisin, anis, moderate to heavy yeasty, sulfur notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy fruit sweet and licorice harsh bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20081109]

Bottle, 7.5%. Anis aroma. Muddy dark brown colour. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is also muddy, yeasty, roasted, sour, metallic and more. I chucked it.

Bottled. Hazy brown colour wih beigeish brown mediumsized head. Aroma is licorice, malts, hops and a lot of anise. Flavour is anise along with some hops and caramel malts. Anise overdrive. Rather different.

Courtesy of bierkoning, ty Edo! Hazy nut brown color, steady creamy brownish head. Licorice, anise and fennel in the nose. Medium-bodied. Loads of anise in the flavor. It is Gouden Carolus Christmas on drugs. Otherwise some sourness, malts and yeast. Interesting.

Bottle, bought at De Barrique in Borne. Brown color, cloudy, thick. Creamy head. A powerful licorice aroma. Also loads of licorice in the sweet sugary flavor. Laurel. This beer doesn’t taste too bad, but totally lacks balance.
