Non-see-through black appearance. Nice aroma of dark malts. Nice hints of sweetness, but overall a nice bitternes. Nice beer.

Nearly black beer with a small beige head. Aroma of dark (toasted) malts, maybe even a bit salmiak-like? Strange.. Full taste, again weird. Dark malts, hint of caramel, but mainly fairly bitter. Strangely enough there was a dusty yeasty taste like the Oijenbeers have. All in all very interesting.

very darkbrown beer with a biege head. smells like my first "dubbel" homebrew: bit smoky, nutty, roasted and yeasty. taste: medicinal(upfront; band-aid), chocolate, licorice, roasted malt, sweet and sourrish. finishes bitterish and a bit fruity. full bodied. the dominating medicinal taste is annoying(too much guaiacol or chlorine-desinfectans), otherwise a good beer.

(on bottle) Chocolate-dark and hazy color; the aroma of fresh baked ryebread allmost filled the room. Nice tones of earth, alcohol and a dry tad of cigar, made me sit and enjoy the pre sent for a while. Surprice to me when the mouthfeeling was that fresh and yet nutty and malted, very drinkable. Finishes of with a good alcohol-kick. Good with lamb-casserolle.

Bottled. A very dark beer with a hint of purple and a puddle of a head. The aroma is sweet and fruity with the alcohol noticeable. The taste has blackberry notes and it is a bit smoky. There are notes of burnt wood as well. The aftertaste has a bit of a stale side to it but otherwise this is a tasty beer.

Bottled, 2004 version. Yeast aroma at first, than raisin and fruity. Ruby color, beige head, good lace. Sweet, fruity, blackcurrant. The feeling reminded me much of guinness draught, creamy and thin.

(Fairly aged sample) Deep chestnut colour, clear, nearly no head. Woody nose, touch of acidity. Nutty - but not as in oxidation (hazel- or walnut oil), but rather as cashews. At the first sip this is a rather neutral beer, but after a few more, it appears to be a extremely well balanced one. If the main taste is caramel-sweet, like a usual bock, there is a definite sourish touch - mild sour as lactic acid. Again woody, even a touch of bitter, and a fruity palate, maybe blueberry-like. A dash of fiery mouthfeel, not aggressive, but it just delivers the kick to get interested in this beer. I have said it before: 3 Horne's beers only get better with age. Nothing compared to this: it was mediocre at best when fresh, now it is excellent!

Keg, Amsterdam BBF2003. Dark ruby red, thin white head and moderate condition. Fruity malt aromas with hints of blackberries, sweet and malty in the mouth with more tart berry notes coming through in the finish.
