3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer was very lively when I opened the bottle. Color is hazy orange, firm small white head and lots of floating yeast. Aroma is dominated by cinnamon and ginger. Same spices also in the flavor, not so strong but evident. Typical Dutch apricot flavoured candy sugar sweetness on the background. Not much alcohol shown out here. Bottle does not mention about spices, just currant, raisin and apricot plus also Saaz and Northern Brewer hops - I can’t find them here.

Brown sugar and cinnamon in the aroma. Sweet, just a bit vinous flavor with cane sugar and cinnamon. Alcohol character is masked somewhat by the sugary sweetness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
after a big gush, poured deep amber with a big heady, that quickly disapeered. In both flavor and aroma beer was very sweet. a little bit too sweet, but all that sugar really hides the alcohol. bubbly, sticky mouthfeel. If you like it sweet, this is a quality brew, but you couldn’t drink too mcuh

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Big gusher - lost about a quarter of the bottle. Needless to say highly fizzy and very prickly in the mouth. In spite of the gush there is not much head atop the murky orange brown body. The aroma is very fruity in a typical Belgian Strong way, moussey berry fruit. The taste is sweet with burnt caramel and brown sugar (which I guess are ultimately the same thing?). Alcohol is noticeable but not to the extent that I’d have guessed 9.4%. Not sure what to make of it really. It has its nice points but the overbearing impression is of the sweetness, carbonation and the wet tea towels.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Deep amber with a rather small head. Spicy caramel aroma. Good spicy (ginger?) caramel with some sourness underneath. Very fruity. Fizzy. Bottled in Dec 05, JorisPPattyn suggests it improves with aging- for now it fell a little short of expectations.

A Mes rate:
33cl bottle from Lowlander. Malty and sweet aroma. Looks like a real stunner. Deep red amber body with great head retention. A little bit too sweet in the flavour for what it is. Sugar and dark fruits and quite roasty. Smooth palate and a strong alcoholic finish. Not the best thing about it to be honest. Ok

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Aged a few years) Old gold colour. Big bubbles, irregular head, lively. Nose of an alcohol-laden cake, cookies, caramel, prickly sensation. Quite sweet taste with bitterish overtones as by burnt caramel. Very slight maderisation. Alcohol again very prominent. Sweet finish, treacle-like, but not cloying. Alcoholburn, but smooth. I agree with Per's peppery finish. I was never very impressed by 3 Horne's beers when fresh. Ageing definitely seems to become them. Not that difficult at 9.4%. Still, worth trying.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Strong fruity aroma with banana and apple and even some maple syrup. An average - white - head which diminishes fast leaving no lace. Hazy dark orange colour. Sweet, full and fruity prune. Full, bit creamy. Surprisingly no alcohol taste although 9.4%. Average long finish, a little burn in the throat.
