The first season of The 7 Virtues of beer. A fresh spring beer beer based on a fine blend of different malts and finished with a bunch of thyme and fresh hops.

Bottle from the Bierkoning Amsterdam. A bit hazy orangy color, full sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly herbs and spices, a slight bitter touch. A bit boring. Low to medium body and carbonation.

Clear amber beer with a big white head, medium carbonation. Tastes like malt, thyme, tasty hops. Quite a nice beer, but thyme in a beer I dont like.

Aroma of bready malt, fruits, some citrus, spicy notes, touch of tyme, hoppy notes. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate bittersweet finish. I don’t crave for another one, but this is a decent well-balanced spiced Maibock.

Bottle past bb date. Hazy light brown with big off-white head. Light malts, brown sugar, fresh brown bread, sunflower seeds, grapefruit juice, fudge. There’s indeed some herbs in the background but they’re quite soft, and give a light bitter finish to this quite sweet beer. There’s also a bit chemical/alcoholic notes throughout that can be because of the age. Medium bodied with full but soft carbonation. OK

Bottled. 15cl sample. The aroma has some thyme indeed, toffee malts, little floral touch and some earthy yeast tones. Hazy, orange-brown coloured beer with a medium, off-white head. The taste is sweet with lots of toffee malts and spicy yeast tones. Very heavy body, way too heavy for a spring seasonal.

Bottled. Hazy amber colour, mediumsized off-white head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is herbs, spices, some malts along with some fruity notes. Flavour is quite a fruity version of the same with some nice herbal notes in the finish. Refreshing brew.

Light hazy medium amber, small frothy off-white head, collapses to a thick layer, good lacing; aroma malty, thyme, yeast, herbal, citrus; moderate bitter, slightly sweet taste, thyme; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; dry bittersweet finish, herbal notes. Bottle, bottled 2-2013, pours hazy dark yellow with a white head. Aroma: thyme, cough syrup, very herbal. Taste: thyme, anise, honey, floral and herbal. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Sweet with a bitter herbal finish. Interesting beer, would be better if the thyme were slightly less dominant.

Bottle 330 ml at home, into a big tulip glass, ABV 6.5% Dark orange to light amber colour on the body, slight hazy, with two fingers of white head on top. Okay retention, leaving light lacing around the glass. Aroma is of malts and yeast and although at first not so strong, the thyme is there, giving a nice touch. Taste has also quite some thyme in it, along with malts, yeast, floral notes, quite nicely hopped with a god bitterness on the aftertaste, with long duration too. Medium thin body, average carbonation, quite dry on the palate and every now and then a numbing feeling there. Overall nice beer, interesting for sure.
