Bottle 0,33ltr: Pretty black coloured brew with that sweet stout smell, slightly bitter and spicy taste, somelike that Belgian Guinness only slightly better.

Bottled April 7, 2011. Nearly perfect black. Very familiar stout smell, strong in malt, sweet and smoky. First taste is blunt and a bit harsh. After taste is more subtle, but lets try. The bang comes from plain amount of material put to this beer. The aroma develops to earthly basement style stout. This is quite dry stout, like the categorization says. Very decent, but not the world class prime example of this style.

Bottle at Arend’s Nest. Black pour with bubbly off white head. Chocolate and coffee in aroma with a certain yeastiness. Flavor is initially chocolate the a strong coffee kick. A slight sour dryness spoils it overall.

Countbeer (4483) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - MAY 20, 2011
Bottle: Alcohol: 7.5% Nice small vast tan head on top of a black beer. Smell earth, coffee, espresso, hint of dark chocolate, dark fruits, spices, speculaas. Taste is a mix of roasted malts, coffee, coffee beans, spices, dark chocolate, bitter, light caramel, hint of hops and light earthy. Light dry aftertaste of bitter, coffee and grass. Low carbo, soft light oily mouthfeel, medium body and a watery texture. Nice brew!

From bottle at Arendsnest on 5 April 2011. My first beer from this new brewery and, overall, a quite promising effort. Very dark colour. Good coffee & chocolate in the aroma. There’s just a hint of cooked vegetable which I sometimes liken to baked beans too. Some roast coffee in the flavour. Quite creamy, but dry mouthfeel. Looking forward to trying some more beers from this brewer.

Bottle from Bierkoning. Black body with slight head. Nose of licorice, malts and some vanilla. Taste of chocolate, vanilla, licorice. Sort of all over the place. Quite a prickly stout.

Bottle from Bier Koning. Cloudy brown beer with a residual tan head. Light palate. Mild roasty malt, trace of smoke. A whisper of hop in the semi dry finish. Not my style of stout.

Borresteijn (4733) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAR 5, 2011
33cl Bottle, bought from the brewer at NHBF. ABV 7.5%. Black colour, dense light beige head. Aroma of hard roasted malts, Belgian chocolate, liquorice, milk. Flavour is medium sweet, cream, hard roasted malts, chocolate, liquorice, bitter roasted finish with some moccha and chocolate sweetness. Medium bodied, oily and creamy mouthfeel. Nice.

Bottle@Home. Chocolate and laurel aroma but not very strong. Opaque, light brown head, fair lace. Very floral start, roasted coffee bitter, nasty bitter finish, hint of black berries. Sparkling and thinnish. More Belgian than English and a bit out of balance.
