Dark muddy with a small tan head. Roasted dark malts and some burnt sugar for aroma. Somehow I don’t get a whole lot more. Flavor, different story. Malts, toffee coffee, burnt sugars, spices like anis, cloves and a sticky bitter aftertaste, which I love. The body is medium to full with a good medium carbonation. Good brew from a brewery with heart. If you stumble upon it, buy it!

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a dark chocolate brown colour with a broken off-white head. The aroma is of liquorice and alcohol. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with liquorice, roasted malt and dark chocolate. That yeast sticks around along with some very bitter hoppy notes well into the finish. It’s a nice enough beer but I’d be using a different yeast if I were the brewer.

caesar (5653) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 30, 2013
Bottled. Hazy brown color, short brown head. Aroma of huge huge anis, some spicyyeast and caramel underneath. Way too much on the anis. Bit sweet, quite dry in taste. Anis dries out more. Too much spice.
