1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2012
Brown 33cl bottle, bought in Belgium, but with Japanese on the rear label? This was the fourth beer on one of my ’random beer tasting evenings’ with the wife. Best before 3 Nov 2011, drank Aug 2010.
Poured into a Westmalle chalice: Reddy brown and clear body, no lumps or bumpd flaoting about, so all the sediment stayed in the bottle. The off-white head soon turned into a thin wisp and collar.
The aroma and flavours within the taste were disappointingly sweet, molasses and a pronounced sugary malted beer taste just killed the beer for me (and the wife).
There was no substance to the beer, thin and weak for the style, I know they can be sweet, but this was a poor example of the type and obviously for the export market.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 suprchunk (1059) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - FEB 1, 2012
Dark brown colored pour. Slim khaki head that quickly fell and left no lacing behind. Big caramel aroma with something a little off in there. Almost vegetal. Taste is the same. With a carbonic presence. Very sweet. Some vanilla notes. It’s okay.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 77ships (976) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - DEC 4, 2011
33 cl. bottle sampled @ De Groote Witte Arend – A: mahogany red/brown with a white head – S: sweet, caramel malts mixed with candy sugar & cherry jam but it is all kind of muddled & murky which definitely takes a notch down T: rather odd, sweet, caramel malts mixed with liquor cherries with the kind of liquor you get inside those dominating here, muddled grains, toasted malts & dark fruits – B: pretty standard – rather muddled & odd but unfortunately in a very middling “meh” kind of way

Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, yeasty, berry - candy, mixed licorice and blood notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110813]

Nut brown color, small beige head. Aroma of plums and raisin soup. Lively carbonation. Raisins, plums and candy sugar in the flavor, some soya sauce too. Quite watery body for 8 % beer. Decent.
1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Abio (1132) - Waasland, BELGIUM - JUN 24, 2010
Bottle at home. Pours out brown-redish, very small head that disappears almost instant. I’m not sure if the beer is still ok... Smells a bit sweet-fruity, some caramel. Taste is fruity-sweet roasted. Some stuff floating in the beer. Think this is not how it’s ment to be... Maybe a re-taste if i find some new bottle.
