3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - OCT 2, 2006
Bottle marked best before end 2008/01/08. Poured a huge frothy, fizzy, off-white with a light pink tint head, fair amount of lacing, fizzy carbonation, transparent, and an orange hue. Sweet, cherry/berry nose. Flavor was sweet, cherry/berry, thin, and watery tasting. Smooth, watery, thin mouthfeel. Light body. Didn’t expect to find what I found in the nose and flavor of this one considering the style this has been entered as. Hmmm. Interesting. Different for this style for sure. Oh well.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 footbalm (1219) - Western Minneapolis Suburbs, Minnesota, USA - SEP 22, 2006
What? Belgian Ale my butt. This had more cherry nose then most Fruit beers.
Tell ya’ the truth? Not bad at all. Very fruity and darn tasty. I still can’t believe this is a Belgian Ale. A little over bubbly for me but still.. nice. Got it at the Cellars in Minnetonka. Why has this not been rated more??
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 biz82 (1328) - austin, Texas, USA - SEP 14, 2006
Hazy light amber with a loose white head. Fruit and perfume aroma. Notes of pomegranite. Crisp and effervescent like a carbonated fruit juice. Relatively bitter and somewhat tannic in finish. Dry. It has a strange lingering oiliness. Pretty good though.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 legion242 (1870) - Richardson, Texas, USA - AUG 31, 2006
Big ass fluffy head. Deepest orange with a strain of yeast running through it. Fizzy citrus on the first sip- almost like an orange soda. Really strange- but nice and refreshing.
4.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 ash666 (1) - houston, Texas, USA - AUG 22, 2006 does not count
Aroma- Not great some fruit, overall starts off unimpressive.
Appearance- Clear, reddish very attractive action.
Flavor/Palate- One of the most unique beer I have ever tried. The combination of a raspberry lambic and De Block’s Kastaar leads to a beer that has no others in this style. Truly a great beer for those stepping off the beaten Belgian path.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bierkoning (8107) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - JUL 3, 2006
Pink color, pinkish dense red. Raspberry aroma. Absolutely dry with floral bitterness. Creamy and hoppy, withb touches of citrus, raspberry and alcohol. Prickly mouthfeel. Different from the "old" Speciale 6 as I remember it, but good enough.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 JorisPPattyn (6728) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 3, 2006
UPDATED: SEP 21, 2010 Reddish tinted orange beer, slightly hazy; good pinkish head, leaving textbook lace. Fruity, but not at all lambick-y. There’s some hops discernible, which is very surprising, historically speaking. Very fruity initial taste, travelling towards near nauseating grainy, porridge-like flavour. The onset, even slightly sourish, is the ONLY reference to this once superb beer from the 70-80’s (which used to be a mix of spontaneously fermented beer and top-fermenting ale). Medium bodied; refreshing but not overly sour. Aftertaste is a bit perfumed, like a bathroom product. Disappointing? Seen what I remember from this beer of yore, that doesn’t come even close. I cannot dissociate it from my memory - but in itself this is not at all bad, just average.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 yngwie (9196) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 11, 2006
Bottled. Beautiful clear red-orange-brown beer with a small white head. Weak malty aroma with some hops. The flavor is quite weak too, with malts and hops. Medium body with some acidity at the end. Nice lager-reminding ale. (060328)
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Vac (2442) - Soon to be back in San Diego, California, USA - MAR 14, 2006
Pours with a red body topped by a thick, white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s sweet yet sour and full of apples with an underlying hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied and smooth with a touch of dryness.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 diabel (1537) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - FEB 19, 2006
Bottle at the brewery Reddsish, amber, quite clear body. Pinkish rocky head. Excellent lace. Aroma of yoghut, strawberry liquor, but just the aroma, not the alcohol. Moderately bitter, lightly sour flavour.
