4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dhurtubise (568) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2003
Huge citrous nose, corriander, some light alcohol heat. Deceptively strong. Flavour is on the lighter side with emphasis on the spice and orange peels.

Bottled 750 ml. Golden with large white head. Sweet grapefruit aroma. A nice spicy peppery taste. Not as overpowering as Westmalle. Multiple tastings
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BeanDip (117) - Florida, USA - JUL 11, 2004
Head is absolutely gorgeous - like a lovely meringue. My bottle says the ABV is 8%. Aroma is fruity - banana and pineapple - almost like a pina coloda. Sweet and spicy smelling - pepper, coriander. Taste is very spicy and tart - almost wit like - really hits the sides of my tongue. Loads of carbonation that add to the zest. Texture is a little slick and somewhat creamy. Dries out nicely on the finish leaving only a touch of hop bitterness, hint of apples and lots of pepper. While it does seem like a much lighter version of a triple with a pretty muted hop presence, I found it to be quite nice and extremely drinkable.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 TAR (2346) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - JUN 22, 2004
750ml: Foggy pale golden. Feathery pillow of bright white foam. Vibrant lemony aroma coupled with glowing honeydew, perfume, and swaths of tight spicy (star anise) esters and dusty yeast. Subtle mixture of candied white grapes, buttercup, and creamed bananas. Fluffy yet loose carbonation. Rather restrained flavors of chalky yeast and apple skin. Subtle airiness softens the spiciness. Mild esters flirt with the herbal elements along with some pear-like grit in the body. Muted doughy malts. Dryness in the finish amplifies the spiciness as the zesty Saaz and toasted pale malts struggle for attention. Overstated alcohol muffles the subtle flower, melon qualities and detracts from what would have been a most memorable Triple. Overall, this lacks the explosive creaminess on the tongue and the alcohol overly exerts itself, especially considering it’s relatively low alcohol. Still, it's enjoyable.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ungstrup (26194) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - APR 16, 2004
A golden beer with a fine though disappearing head. The aorma is malty with notes of honey and grain. The flavor is sweet with notes of grain and straw. It is rather fresh in the beginning, but then you are overwhelmed by honey. The beers has a good sweetness and a good hop bitter dry ending.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 5000 (4965) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 7, 2005
Bottle pours a fairly pale yellow, large white pillowy head, uber sticky lacing, with strong carbonation. Pale malts, bready, slightly floral, and a bit of sweetness on the nose. Very light alcohol emerges as it warms. Spicy on the tongue, semi-sweet (at least not as sweet as other Tripels) with a black pepper tinge. Finishes malty, with perhaps a bit of citrus. Good body, thick mouthfeel. Lingering dryness. Comes across as more of a Blonde than a Tripel. Decent. Thank goes out to TAR for the trade!
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 iwantalambic (1478) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 13, 2004
750 mL, best before end 09.12.05: pale, hazed lemon…tightly bubbled, starched white foam. Melody of aromatics: sweet dough, melon, spicy cloves and yeasty esters. A dustiness sets in after a while, but stays interesting because of the neat mixture of spices and fruits…palate is dry and chalky, though with lively, tingling carbonation. Seems to be overly spicy, acidic & alcoholic, the corresponding players (light hop bitterness & candied malts) don’t get much of a chance to show themselves…a nice example of good bottle conditioning, but I have had better triples…

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 aracauna (2855) - Georgia, USA - MAR 11, 2005
The body is very dry with a good bit of oregano. Huge carbonation in the mouthfeel and head on top of a very pale body.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 kujo9 (1088) - North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA - NOV 16, 2004
Hazy light gold w/ a huge lasting frothy white head. Some mold around the cork & top of the bottle. Peppery clove spice in the immediate nose, and cardboardy. Floral hop & grainy malt; chalky mineral aroma. Hints of lemon citrus & white grape juice w/ some alcohol sweetness. Very well balanced, just to bitter. Alcohol flavor & fruitiness; clove spicy yeast. Paper & spicy hop in the aftertaste. Finish is dry w/ a light grainy malt flavor. Highly carbonated, medium body, well hidden alc., and lightly dry m/f. I think the mold around the cork had something to do with the beer being papery/cardboard in the nose & palate. Not a bad beer, but it seems to be missing some ester complexity and sugary sweetness in the nose to be a great tripel.
