diabel (1537) - Aarschot, - APR 9, 2005
Draught at the brew pub Creamy, light brown, mostly diminishing head. Excellent lace. Hazy, ruby body. Averagily malt (nuts), lightly hoppy (grass) aroma. Lightly acidic, moderately bitter initial flavour. Moderately bitter, long-lasting finish. Medium bodied. Averag carbonation. Metallic finish. Although it is better than the other 2 I tasted (’spéciale’ and ’ale’), the characteristics of the flavour are the same.

Dogbrick (4837) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 4, 2011
On draught at Les Brasseurs in Brussels (as "dark beer" on the English-language menu). The beer pours clear brown with a medium thin light beige head that dissipates steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit and bready malt. Light body with flavors of sweet malt, cherries and yeast. The finish is short and malty. Pretty average overall.

Fra fat på brewpuben 7 Mai 11. Dyp brun. Lavt skum. OK frukt & karamellaroma. Syrlig fruktig smak med innslag av karamell. Fruktig ettersmak. For søt.

On tap at the brewpub. It poured a clear golden liquid with a white head. It smelled and tasted like a sweet and malty industrial lager. Harsh mouthfeel and light body. It felt more industrial then craft brewed, I couldn’t finish my glas.

Rather light aroma is sweetish with caramel and ripe fruits. Flavour is sweet and light with caramel, ripe fruits and hints of spices. Too light stuff.

thewolf (8626) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUN 9, 2011
Tap @ De Brouwers - Les Brasseurs, Brussels.
Pours dark amber with a nice, creamy, white head. Fine duration. Aroma has toasted caramel, light milky chocolate, some yeast. Highish carbonation, fine light and mildly creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, some Belgian sugar, liqourice, toasted caramel, light yeast and plums. This one has a little character compared to the others.

On tap at the pub, named Dark Beer in the menu, 120ml, being one part of four samples served on a tray. Clear, ruby-brown with a beige bubbly ring at the top. Plain sweet malty aroma. Taste of caramel malts added by candy sweetness. Notes of alcohol. Very average (Brussel, 07.05.2011).

Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 30, 2011
Süß-metallerner, erst spät Kaffeesatz-artiges malziges Aroma, etwas nach Kaugummi. Zum Ende wässrig, dafür nimmt das Malz etwas zu. Dennoch dürftig, nur wenig harmonisch. 7/7/6/6//6
