4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 fiulijn (10390) - Como, ITALY - MAY 5, 2004
UPDATED: NOV 13, 2007 2007-09-18, 9-4-8-3-16 Cloudy golden color. The aroma is really nice, very complex, brett, cellar smell, citrus fruits, some malt. God mouthfeel; the first impression is for a strong grapefruit flavor, then other citrus; and it’s astringent. An excellent Gueuze.
2004-04-23, 6-4-5-3-10=28 Golden color; creamy head. Light aroma. Drinkable, but too poor characteristics, too dry and astringent to be good; a bit too high final bitterness.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 diabel (1537) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - MAY 4, 2004
Rocky white head, good lace. Initial large head, but quite fastly fully diminishing. Hazy amber colour. Apple-citrus aroma. Initial moderately acidic flavour. Lightly acidic finish. Fizzy mouthfeel. This a good gueuze indeed.

Rerate. dutch ratebeer lambic-meeting. Good sourness, some sweetness in the beginning. well balanced. I guess this was the best Gueuze of the evening.

A dark yellow beer with a beutiful lasting lazing head. The aroma is a nice sharp wildfermentated one. The flavor is very fresh with sourness as grapefruits and limes. the end is very dry and woody. A great gueze - and very lively after 1½ years in th bottle.

i'm very grateful to duff for bringing a bottle of this back from the old dart. enticing rotten egg aroma is quite sweet. tastes of oak, apple peel tartness with some orange pip bitterness. then comes the yoghurt and then the white leaves from the centre of a head of iceberg lettuce. complex stuff. i was already belching dried fish by the end of the glass, normally it takes me an hour or two after finishing a lambic until this happens

The expansive stables stretch all the way to the horizon. . . I enter on the west side just as the sun rises over the oak and pine trees in the east. Inside, the musty aroma of dust mixes with manure, numerous horse blankets and soft leather. As I wander down the hall the horses are feeding on a variety of goodies: tart raspberries from a wooden basket, pears, sour apples, strange pellets with a musty aroma and each drinks from a trough filled with crystal clear spring water. These horses are living in a castle where they are the masters. After what seemed like hours I make it to the far end of the stable. . . here I find the special treats: bags of a tart berry cane sugar, fresh cedar logs, extra tart lemons, and large ripe pineapples. What trip this was and again I can only thanks ToddA for such an experience.

I had to do it: how can I take marks off anywhere when this is the best beer I've had so far. I'm glad it's my 100th rating as well. It's beer perfection for what I know. Awesome. In my weird notes here I've got: "Orvally, Horse sweat of a horse fed on Mangoes and Yoghurt; hint of Rodenbach-style sourness; tastes like a really great meal eaten on the heals of a really hefty spew." Cheers to Duff who brought this over. I owe you heaps for this one... Awesome!
