3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 TBone (9096) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 2, 2010
Bottled 375ml vintage Jan 2009
At first clear (later a bit hazy), deep golden color, small white head. Tart nose has peach, leather and grapefruit. A bit "fizzy", carbonated mouthfeel. Tartness, grapefruit, peach, easy going sour-fruity finish and aftertaste. Beer has ageing potential, now already good and especially quite fruity, but probably is more dry after the years.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 callmemickey (710) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 31, 2010
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2012 2009 375ml opened October 2010
A: Pale golden-wheat body. Two finger sized head formed as it was poured into a tumbler. Just the slightest cloudiness. Soapy lacing.
S: Bright lemons, white grapes, oak and miscellaneous soft citric fruits.
T: Like the nose, this gueuze takes a clean-lemon citric profile. Some oak and just the slightest bit of funk. Not pervasively sour like Cantillon, not the oaky funk of Drie Fonteinen. Clean and bright like Girardin.
M: Light bodied. Nice effervescence. Some sourness and tartness in the finish.
O: A sure-fire stand out that makes a good argument for being among the best "standard" gueuzes.

Pretty classic gueuze aroma; funky brett, lemons, and light vanilla. Slightly off dry flavor with a wee bit of bitterness on the finish and a subtle vanilla aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours with a thin bubbly white head that goes really quickly, mostly clear sunflower orange color. Leather dominates the aroma, with light funk and white grapeskins. Flavor follow suit, with leathery and earthy tones, some light fruits, and a nice funky acidity. Lightish body with bubbles, and fucking great dry finish. Love this speed, and they have nailed the style. Good stuff.

Tastes of lambic, tart fruit, wood, and acid. Medium body. Lightly dry, mouth-puckering-tart, texture. Average to lively carbonation. Tart fruit and wood finish is spicy, heavily tart, and heavily sweet. Delicious.

Bottle @ Pikkulintu. Poured hazy yellowish orange with a small, almost white head. Sharp acidic aroma with hints of apple, newly cut grass and barn yard. Sour flavour with fruity and floral notes as well as earthy impressions. A nice gueuze to dissolve your enamel into.
