Goldorak (427), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 30, 2007 Apple cider colored peachy yellow brew, the head and lacing lasted a whole 3 seconds.
Definately a woody, old cask aroma. The funkyness is there, but more subdued than say 3F or Cantillon. In fact, it had a surprising freshness, almost minty herbal aroma that went leathery further on.
Low end carbonation pushes the acidity to good levels but without getting too astringent or "burning", the funky flavor tastes a bit more corky than woody, it again reminded me of a dry cider, especially in the finish, it’s drying and tart but oh-so easy to drink and makes you drink more and more! I’m glad I finally got to find one of these rare beauties!
Rciesla (904), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Oct 1, 2008 Thanks Brad for sending this my way. Pours an unassuming orange hazy beer with a white head. Gueuzey sour funk, light vinegar, tart and funk’d. Dry with lemon acidity. Awesome. lb4lb (1453), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 10, 2008 Bottle shared at a tasting courtesy of dewbrewer. Thanks!
Pours a hazy thick yellowish pour with light white head. Smell is sour, funky and grapefruity. Some cheesiness. Taste is tart dull flavored sourness and funk. Decent BlackForestCO (549), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Aug 31, 2008 Bottle thanks to miketd, you are the man Mike. Poured a clear golden color with a thin white head that receded to a ring. Aroma of tart, funky barnyard with healthy doses of straw, horse blanket, and some light fruit including citrus and soft berries. Semi-sweet, tart entry with some funky barnyard yeast and some dry straw and horse blanket lead into a light citrus fruitiness dominated by sour lemon. Low carbonation, smooth on the palate with a nice dry bite. Awesome, thanks again Mike. BDR (1929), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Aug 14, 2008 Many thanks to JK for sharing. A solid geuze with plenty of the usual suspects - animal sweat, yeast, tartness, funk. Delicious. A similar taste with a decent sourness. BoBoChamp (735), Gent, Belgium Jul 28, 2008 38cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, balanced, hazy, small head, good sour geuze
