3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 lassem (631) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 20, 2010
Bottle from Dranken Geers. 37.5 cl from jan. 2006. The cork goes up with a bang. Nice. Deep dark red - almost brownish pour with a pink fizzy head. Seems to be rather high carbonated. the nose is besides the krieks also has a strawberry sweetness and wooden notes and vinegar. The taste is straight forward kriekish with a massive bitterness but with a watery an anonymous finish

37,5cl 2006 bottle at De Demervallei. Beer is red and very cloudy with a very small head that disappears after some time. Aroma is full of cherry’s and a deep sourness. What a beatifull smell. Taste is sweet with a lot of cherry’s and a nice dry musty sourness. Both the sweet cherry’s and the dry sourness stays for a very long time. Mouthfeel is good with very few carbonization, but the everlasting dryness makes everything good. The label says: "niet zoet" what means "not sweet" and that is exactly what you taste.

Thank you, Peter, for this exceptional sour. This was a very well-aged version. Clear, bright ruby red with a loose, light pink head. Wonderful cherry aromas, both fresh and fermented, with excellent aged characteristics. Full and multi-faceted with a lot of dimension. The flavor is incredibly sour with a purity that is pure genius. It captures the entire spectrum of cherry flavors--sweet, tart, bitter, fresh, aged, fermented, oxidized, tannic--and fuses it with a clear malt base that delivers the flavors skillfully. This leads directly into a superbly balanced body that is very refreshing and vibrant.

Courtesy of dasilky by way of gabf hotel sleepers. Pours a tussin color with no head and just a ring of bubbles around the outer rim. Smell makes my tongue recoil and water. Super sour cherry on the nose, strawberries, and a nice barnyard funk presence. Taste is super sour, makes my eyes water and my tongue dance..POW! Right in the kisser. Cherries, brett, hay, and sour...just pure awesome sour power...POW! The consistency is that of water...with a kick...its low alcohol but I can feel some burn...that may just be the heart burn though...POW!

Traded MJ a hotel bottle of shampoo for this - 2006 Vintage (the beer, not the shampoo): Pours a flat red with blood-orange tendencies. Cherry bandage nose, tart but not overwhelming...I was actually expecting to be disappointed because of the flatness of the appearance and mellowness of the nose..but damn, flavors punch you in the face with a heat seaking tartness missle. There’s subtle funkiness riding behind to keep it interesting but not too interesting, and an oily slick, absolutely amazing mouthfeel that this may be one of the very few beers where I don’t mind the non-existent carbonation. The cherry is more an essence than a tangible flavor because of the total lack of sweetness here but regardless, you don’t ever forget your drinking a kriek. a powerhouse of a kriek that is unrelenting in its ...uh..power.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 gunnar (2279) - Sandnes, NORWAY - NOV 27, 2009
Bottled from 2004.Pours almost clear red with a fast diminishing small pink head. Lively carbonation. Aroma of sour cherries. Taste is big sour with hints of berries. Sour strawberries. Tearing my mouth up. It’s smooth and fresh. Finishes sour and bitter. Very good kriek

RBSG 07. Bottle from 2005. Lean, sour, funky, very dry. Cherry presence is strong without being sweet- tart and mildly bitter with a bit of juice. Medium body, balanced. From notes. I’ve had this beer a few times since and this easily my favorite kriek I’ve ever had. Awesome.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 17thfloor (2265) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 4, 2009
Bottle from January 2006 sample #9 from 1st CST. Pours a murky dark wine-red with basically no head. Aroma is full of sulfur, but still quite pleasant, dusty funky moldy cheesy tart cherries, some formaldehyde. Flavor of cherry pool water, tart aged cherries, moldy/cheesy, not terribly tart overall though, just sour enough. Medium bodied with flat carbonation. I know this is a great beer from my samplings in Belgium.
