4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 traPISSED (87) - , NORTHERN IRELAND - MAR 20, 2011
UPDATED: APR 10, 2011 75cl bottle, vintage 2005. When I opened this the smell of cherries and funk was immediate. This is one barnyardy Kriek! The colour is a murky blood red and a decent pour produced a head that didn’t stay around for long. The taste is fantastic! There is a serious amount of cherry still in this even after 6 years! It tastes fresher than many krieks with only 2 years of age. There is oak and cherry everywhere and there is a sourness that creeps up on you. This is on the higher scale of sourness but it’s not a bad thing. This really reminded me of the 3F scharbeekse Kriek which was also 2005 vintage.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gualthiero (35) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - FEB 24, 2009
37,5 bottle. Nice sourness with sweet cherry finish. Palate is not very outspoken and aroma is rather limited for a Kriek.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 amorphiss (34) - Santa Cruz, California, USA - JUN 4, 2007
Very deep red for a lambic, with fine pinkish bubbles on top. Evil-looking. Smells like dried high-quality cherries, sour-aromas, slightly cheese-like. Taste is sour funk, quality cherries, slight sweetness that is balanced perfectly by the lambic sourness. Smooth full and round in the mouth. This is the best Kriek I’ve ever had yet!

De Cam has a strong reputation of shoam, (=mousse in French), something like a fountain that explodes. The "Kriek" delivers the basic substance of geuze with a strawberry, appels taste.

2005 Vintage, 750ml, Lions Pride, Brunswick ME.
Extremely sour! Fruit was a bit restrained, but well balanced with the sourness and ’funk’ . The beer is clear and bright, with a fairly high level of carbonation. Be careful not to get too much of the sediment in the the last glass, this definately changed the mouthfeel and appearance. This is a beer worth seeking out, and at $65.00+ / bottle it is a decent value for what you are getting.
