Wheat was added to the barley malt in order to give this beer a light and refreshing character for summer.

Hmm! This hasn’t recieved much in the way of praise has it? However...I must disagree..this is super! Pale straw, typically hazy, and a great white head that lasts to the bottom of the glass. There is a sweetness noticable on the nose, but for me the dominating aroma is of orange peel (curacao, perhaps?) and a slight spiciness. Yes! it is light in body, but surely that is the whole point of white beers, they’re supposed to be refreshing, and this one does just that. Smooth, with a sharp acidity that slowly fades and is replaced with genlte spicy finish that lasts. £1.99, Booths Keswick.

Bottle. Fucked up compared to there other stuff. Smelt like lemonade. Some subtle coriander., but otherwise just tastes like lemonade, dissapointing.

I have a problem with De Clerck beers. They are often quite interesting, but not always for the right reasons. This is a modern Golden Summer Ale - a fashion that seems to have spread over to France. As usual there is wheat to soften and refresh, and a fragrant hop. But - as seems typical of De Clerck beers - the body is woefully thin. I mean - this is REALLY thin. The mild flavours are quite pleasant - a hint of watered down orange juice, and the slightest splash of melon, but they fail to lift the watery body. It pours nicely, with a light, frothy (but short lived) head. In fact that is the best this beer can offer - the moment of pouring. It is all downhill after that.
