A gentle haze punctuate this straight golden ale which develops a towering frothy, dense white foam. Resinous and fairly green, herbal nose delves into the spicy, bready yeastiness to raise up a chivey, accentuated spicy profile. Not as fresh as I should have drank it, but I can see how the mostly faded dry-hopping must have been strongly flowery and resinous earlier on. At this mature stage (probably closing on 1-yr old), the yeast is fairly present though fortunately not stealing the show from the hops and the malt remains just gently cerealic and on the pale, bready side of the spectrum. This makes for a straightforward oiffering that does not necessarily strive for balance, but rather focuses on hops and I can see how enjoyable that must be for variety’s sake in Belgium. Fairly dry, yet convincingly warm and bold for a 6% offering, offering a relatively dense texture presumably thanks to the non-filtration and smallish, tighter than average bubbles. Hop-forward indeed despite having several months under its belt (BB Apr. 2014). Pretty good, though at this stage, it’s stronger on bitterness than aromas.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22.4 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 2/2016. Pours slightly hazy bright golden color with a 2-3 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange peel, peach, citrus rind, pine, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, bread, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/pine hops, spicy yeast, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange peel, peach, citrus rind, pine, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, bread, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy bitterness/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange peel, peach, citrus rind, pine, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/pine hops, spicy yeast, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice crisp hop/yeast/malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian IPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/pine hops, spicy yeast, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Very nice IPA. Dark orange/ gold with a big white head. Stays frothy to the end. Medium body. Pleasant aroma, though I’ve had IPAs that kick out the fruit more strongly. Well balanced taste of orange, peach and grapefruit, with a bitter finish.

intense stuff. huge frothy head and overcarbonated belgian style - which makes the hops even more edgy tasting. aroma is resinous and amarillo (?) heavy - apricot and grapefruit. in the mouth the aforementioned CO2 rips out the body a bit and accentuates the treble - this is not helped by an apparently overzealous burtonisation and in particular abuse of MgSO4 i think i can taste - medicinally, heavily bitter from the salts and not in a good way. I’m sure it was a good idea on paper but.

330ml bottle served in and ordinary glass. Bought during a business trip in Luxembourg in one of the best beershops I’ve ever visited, the Mi-Orge Mi-Houblon in Arlon - Belgium (http://miorgemihoublon.be) Enjoyed @ a hotel room in Luxembourg :/ A: Pours a nice orange to amber cloudy color forming a big and solid, and creamy white head. Excellent retention and tons of soapy and lingering lacings left in the glass S: Excellent smell of fresh and flowery hops. Very citric, quite American profile. Notes of orange, orange zest and sweet grains. American style IPA with some touches of Belgian bready yeasts T: Dry, grainy, crispy and bitter. Sweet pale malts. Fruity with notes of orange and orange zest. A bit bready with a huge hops bitterness in the end... M: Light to medium body. Citrus hops bitter aftertaste O: Excellent drinkability. Excellent IPA. Quite American to a Belgian IPA but absolutely recommended anyway [ BA Review @ 4/6/2014 ]

Bottle purchased at 7-11 Kittery, ME. Lightly hazy gold with fluffy head retention. Aroma is very mild, light floral tones and weak yeast.

The flavor starts with straw, pale malts and citrus. The hops are floral and grassy leading into a mild bitterness. Lighter side of medium in body with a decent carbonation level. I’m sure this is real nice on draft, in a bottle not so much.
