3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A gentle haze punctuate this straight golden ale which develops a towering frothy, dense white foam. Resinous and fairly green, herbal nose delves into the spicy, bready yeastiness to raise up a chivey, accentuated spicy profile. Not as fresh as I should have drank it, but I can see how the mostly faded dry-hopping must have been strongly flowery and resinous earlier on. At this mature stage (probably closing on 1-yr old), the yeast is fairly present though fortunately not stealing the show from the hops and the malt remains just gently cerealic and on the pale, bready side of the spectrum. This makes for a straightforward oiffering that does not necessarily strive for balance, but rather focuses on hops and I can see how enjoyable that must be for variety’s sake in Belgium. Fairly dry, yet convincingly warm and bold for a 6% offering, offering a relatively dense texture presumably thanks to the non-filtration and smallish, tighter than average bubbles. Hop-forward indeed despite having several months under its belt (BB Apr. 2014). Pretty good, though at this stage, it’s stronger on bitterness than aromas.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330mL bottle BB Feb 2015
Deep straw body, hazy with yeast. Huge dense white head flairs up and holds.
Good intensity aroma, offering something quite different; herbal ,grassy hops, bready/doughy malts & yeast, lemon rind, white pepper, touch of vinegary funk.
Body is quite lean, dry, well attenuated, decent carbonation.
Flavour leads on with peppery phenolics & earthy herbal hops with hints of citrus & pears. High bitterness on a drying finish.
Not what I was expecting; somewhere between a Saison and IPA - but a British/Euro IPA, geared towards more Noble hop characteristics.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE juni 2015, at William K Annankatu, 20140708) A gusher. The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was large and white. Aroma had Belgian style yeast, floralness and grass. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were Belgian style yeast, fruitiness, grass, floralness, malts, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was yeasty, hoppy and bitter. The floralness was a bit off-putting but otherwise a good brew.

Goudkleurig en nevelig, met een witte kraag. Duidelijk aroma van hop en het frisse, zurige van citrus. Begint zacht, eindigt bitter in de mond. Prikkelend. Lekker.
