Tap at Of Love & Regret. Clear amber pour with webby lace. Nose is sweet tea, mild cheese, small smoked ham, honey glazed bacon. Taste is thicker smoked meat and sweet bacon. Lighter body with good hop bitterness. Very nice. My style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark copper, light cloudy body, creamy beige head. Clear smoke in here, not ’light’ in my book. Also some nutty notes, dades and cooked rice. Moderate yet active carbonation. Medium bitter, but mostly that smoke again. It doesn’t really work for me TBH. Yeast as well, but that one saves this for me. Just not my thing, I think, although I’m never as impressed by dDvdK as others seem to be. (33cl bottle)

66cl bottle from Geers. Smoke is heavier on the nose than on the palate. This is one confused experience of a beer, hovering in taste between a bitter Belgian ale (Dobbel Palm, shares its sugary+malty mouthfeel) and a faint armoma journey towards Bamberg (pardon my catachresis.) Pours an aesthetically pleasing dark amber colour with a creamy head though. Rich aftertaste, indeed reminiscent of ripe summer fruit (apricot) - but bitterness prevails and smoke remains a vague souvenir. The only Bravoure that is needed with driking this one is coming to terms with this travelling confusion - I might as well call the confused prose of this review a bravourous reaction to this challenge, dear unacknowledged peruser!

Geur is rokerig. Aldus Huubs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amber coloured ale with a thin creamy, off white head. Aroma and taste of tar, wood and some smoke with hints of sweet malt. Long bitter aftertaste.

Bottle at Bier Circus, Bruxelles, bb Dec 2013
Cloudy amber color, with creamy head. Delicate aroma of smoke and malt, followed by light Belgian yeast. Malty flavor, with delicate smoke, some caramel.
In my opinion the Belgian character and quite bold bitterness don’t mix as well with the smoke as the German beers do.

Nice super hazy orange tinted deep copper coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall off-white head - nice and thick looking. Aroma of yeast, deep malt, alcohol, sugars and tons of peat - not much smokiness, but definitely the rich breadth of peat. Medium to Full-bodied; Dense, full malt flavour at first with a lot of sweetness right behind from apples, pears, caster sugar and a touch of toffee with a lot of full yeast flavour behind it with some alcohol and a good taste of the smoked malt soon afterwards with it lingering at the very end, but not entirely noticeable. Aftertaste is a bit complex with a lot of sweetness, a good amount of malt and a nice smoked finish - not strong at all for any of those tastes, but they blend well in the palate and don’t overpower. Overall, a nice smoked beer if you don’t like smoked beers - shows a touch of the flavour, but more of a tripel or a belgian ale than a smoked beer. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from West LakeView Liqours in Chicago, Illinois on 03-December-2011 for US$4.99 sampled at home in Washington on 22-May-2012.

33cl bottle BB Juli 2013.
