What a superb surprise find of a beer. Lovely sweet, slightly yeasty, woody, yet smokey aroma. Bright orange/amber colour and foamy off white haed. The taste isn’t overpowering with the 6.5% but it’s balanced mix of slight fruit with the rustic smoke tinge. An interesting but great beer that I will be having again.

330ml Bottle: Aroma of hops, light grass, malt, slight smoke, slight Bamburg wood, slight smoked meat, and Belgian yeast. Poured a muddy amber/brown in color with a medium-sized, creamy, dense, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of smoke, malt, light Belgian yeast, slight Bamburg wood, slight smoked meat, and a hint of cocoa. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, light smoke, slight smoked meat, slight Belgian yeast, and a hint of Bamburg wood in the dry finish.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2010 Bottle from Dranken Geers. The last De Dochter beer I had was world class, what’s this one got up its sleeve?....rauchmalt and milk chocolate, by the sniff of it. Pours clear copper, pinkish like papaya flesh with the bits in, below a fine beige slick. Soft and lactic with a slightly earthy, brackish, orange-accented puff of tobacco. Brazen wood and a suggestion of mango in the dregs. The rauchmalt returns in a finely sieved, peaty aftertaste. Tasty, but I expected more.

Bottled. A hazy ginger coloured beer with a small white head. No smoke for me, but instead very spicy and yeasty. Fizzy fruits and lots of hops. Some carbonation prickle too. Not bad.

Drank from a tulip glass poured out of a bottle. Pours amber brown with a thick and highly carbonated white head. Aroma of funky yeast, grass and smoke. Taste is interesting; Sort of a dry bready flavor with a mild sweet and smoky flavor on the way down. Nice body and the carbonation isn’t overwhelming.
