33cl bottle @ Willems, Belgium. BB 08/10. Consumed 10/10. Pours dark golden amber with a small creamy white foam and lacings. Nose is sweet malty and yeasty. Caramel and a bit of smoke. Flavor is balanced. Smoke, caramel and yeast. Full bodied. Smooth. Dry end. A nice smoked Belgium!

Bottle (33 cl) from Etre Gourmet. Murkyy amber, mediumoff-whire head. Smoked aroma with notes of burnt rubber. Dry with a bit rough bitterness. Not good.

Tap at Church Key. Hazy golden colour, fluffy white head. Nose is spicy and funky, hoppy, with a touch of barbecue. Mouth is a lively light flavour, with the smoke flavour just there at the end, with a bitter end and light mouthfeel. This could be a refreshing beer, but the palate cloys with the smoke.

Draft. Pours orange amber with a white head. Toasty aroma with some lighter hoppy notes. The flavor has lightly smoked pale malts with floral hops. Pretty good.

Tap at RnH. The menu categorized it as "smoked," so I was surprised at the light copper pour. Aroma is oak with a slight touch of smoke. The smoke comes out in the flavor, though. Hints of salami, malt, oak, rice, hops, and smoke, smoke, smoke. Lingering meaty, woody, smoky finish. Smoked wood takes center stage, and nothing distracts from it.

Bottle, Smoke ’em if ya Gots ’em Fest 2010. Pours a slightly cloudy amber orange body with a small fizzy off-white head. No real smoke on the nose, just a touch of powdered sugar sweetness like I get from some Sours, some light yeastiness. Smells like a slightly sweet and fruity Belgian Ale. The flavor isn’t really smoky either, just a slight powdered sugar note, lightly yeasty, with some light spiciness. If there’s any smoked malt then I just can’t taste it after drinking so many Smoked beers at the fest. Light bodied and fizzy with an airy feel to it. Not sure why this was at a Smoked Beer festival, but there it was. I see afterwards that it’s listed as a Belgian Ale on here, but there must be a little smoked malt in there. Decent beer otherwise.

0.33 l bottle at Tuulensuu, Tampere. Copper color. Sweetish malty and slightly smoky aroma. Sweet smoky, tarry, malty and honeyish flavor with some herbal birch notes. Slightly spicy and slightly fruity. Pleasant, slightly too sweet.

Pours copper with a bit of a pinkish hue and a huge soapy head. Smells strong of musty yeast and very tart. Taste is very yeasty with some spices, must and earth and some hints of band-aid. Overall an interesting brew.

Pours a cloudy dark copper with an impressive, soapy lace - light, spicy, musty aroma, with some yeasty character, a touch of smoke, and fennel and thyme - medium but creamy carbonation - semi-sweet flavor up front, but it dries out and becomes spicy in the long term - some peppery spice and notes of herbs and wildflowers - fennel, lavender - light smoke throughout that tastes more like the product of the yeast than any sort of adjunct or smoked malt - some unwanted phenols as well, though, in the form of light plastic in the finish - otherwise quite an interesting experience.

Botte. Rich amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Light caramel and light hop aroma. Light caramel and light hay flavor with light hops. Medium bodied. Light caramel and light yeast lingers.
