(bottle) pours a hazy orange-brown colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of honey-smoked ham, oregano, savoy and white grapes. flavour is mostly the same, with a touch of herbal hops, more prominent honey, a medium sweetness and a semi-dry finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

A: The beer pours a clear, light amber color with a finger of off-white head. S: Smells pretty smokey. Underneath the smoke, however, is a nice light fruitiness. A bit of sweet bread and toffee malt, as well. Maybe a hint of tartness, perhaps lemon peel. T: Quite smokey and woody, almost a touch salty. Fairly bitter, too. Not as much in the way of sweetness as the nose demonstrated, and nowhere near the level of fruit. M: Medium bodied with medium to low carbonation. O: The smokiness was a bit harsh which isn’t what I like at all.

Rating of the new 2011/2012 version of Bravoure, with more smoked malt
Slightly hazy orange copper beer, fluffy firm white creamy head. Aroma rather smoky, sweet malty with turf accents. Spicy, some vanilla and cardamom. Flavour roasted and whisky malts, slight sweetness, full body. Mocha, fruity, yeast. Bit astringent with some bitterness coming through. Finish bit bitter, astringent and -surprising me a little- reminding of mocha cake. Balanced but quite complex and bold beer.

29/06/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 2/2009 (2011-290)

Little cloudy orange to copper red beer, off-white creamy head, stable & adhesive. Aroma: sweet malts, caramel, candi sugar, curaçao, bit fruity, basement yeast. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: roasted malts, mocha to coffee even, surprising for a beer of this colour. Also sweet malts, camp fire smoke, dark chocolate. Aftertaste: mocha & citrus, fruits, oranges, little bitter ending. Alcohol is noticeable in the end.

durhambeer (2500) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUN 27, 2011
Bottle from Bruisin’ in Asheville. Pours amber, slightly hazy with a soft, two-finger head that won’t quit, leaving lace all behind it. Nice. Nose is dusty, estery, slightly woody, and earthy, with dark summer fruits and peach pits fighting through to be heard. Taste hits as smoky at first, though that note faded closer to the bottom of the glass. Spicy grains; I’m thinking rye. A bit of pepper. Odd beer: complex and unique at first, a bit simple for a bit, but settling into a nice, slightly spicy, fruity ale by the end. Grew on me.

Test vom 21.12.2007, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 8,11,12,12,-,12 - 11,42
