Bottled (66 cL) from Biernavigatie.nl. Bottle date August 2012, bottle nr. 8937. Label is from regular Embrasse, but additional sticker and card says Ardbeg Islay whisky-barrel. In contrast to current Ratebeer database it states 10% ABV. Very dark brown colored, medium lasting brown head, beautiful. Very powerful nose, Islay whisky, peat, iodine, smoke, medicinal even, is there actually beer in here? Smoked flavor, earthy, then lots of malts, together with iodine. Lasting finish, astringent, very earthy, bitter and liquorice. Extremely full-flavored, almost pure Islay whisky, which i like. But then again, that may also be the downside of this beer: why not just take an Ardbeg whisky if you’re in the mood for something like this? Still, i like it a lot. But one piece of advice: share your bottle, a bottle this size is too much to finish yourself.

Bottle. Murky brown color, tan head. Strong smoky, meaty aroma. Soy sauce flavor (umami) with smoke and salty notes. Medium-full body, medium carbonation. I really couldn't enjoy this at all: the meatiness was overpowering. And I *like* meat!

Bottle 66cl. Pitch black with a beige head. Strong peatded nose with hints of iodine. Extreme strong taste of peat. This is a beer which you either love or dislike. For me this works great. Very long finish.

@ Eddan 15-1-10: riktigt trevlig doft. Smaken är ganska het. Stora whiskeytoner. Mycket malt. Men en fin balans. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

Dark brown, almost black. Some yeast floating in the beer, thin head. Aroma is a peat bomb. Slightly rustic, serious stuff, how can they do this in Benelux? Taste feels as if I am biting tar. Thick, warming, alcohol is also there but this is not a normal drink. Too massive - but in a good way. Aftertaste is peated, lasts long. Tobacco. I guess this beer is divisive, you either like it or hate it. I like it.

light beige head leaves some lacing. brown colour. massive aroma of leather, smoke, peat, band-aid, some quad esters, phenolic and salty. taste like aroma, liquorice with a sour-sweet-bitter finish. medium body and carbonation. a massive peat in the mouth ;)

Ölföreningen 2014. Smak och doft av läder, torv, charkuterier, tjära, aska och mycket rök. Jag kan ana sötma från torkad frukt men rökigheten tar helt över, vilket jag dock gillar.

Bottle @ THT November. Pours a dark brown beer with a small beige head on top. Aroma is a peat bomb, loads of peat, ashes, iodine. Flavor is very sweet, again the peat overpowering and has a soft, silky mouthfeel. The Scotch part is incredibly strong in this one. The peat lingers on in the back after swallowing. Being the peathead that I am, I really love this.
