COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wrapped bottle, striped black paper.(Oak Whisky Barrels)
An 9% ABV beer in which the fermented sugars were all obtained from malt (20 degrees Plato). A generous dose of hops and a long maturation time makes this beer best of the best. This beer is bottle conditioned and will go through taste evolution during many years. Matured for a quarter of a year on a selection of whisky casks. (Translation by Martinus)

Bottled, april 2013. Dark ruby color, short brown head. Aroma of soft oak, peat, ashes, milk chocolat, hint of earthy hops, hint of laurel, touch of red fruit, just a hint of spicy belgian yeast. Quite sweet taste, slight dry, slight bitter. Big creamy mouthfeel still. Although peated whiskey is not my favorite, this one grows on me with every sip. The balance is simply wonderful, which is becoming (or already is) a signature feature from de Korenaar. Superb brew.

Small brown head. Clear deep brownish red body with ongoing carbonation. Roasty chocolatey wild berry aroma with vanilla fudge spice notes. Sweet-dryish chocolatey spicy alcoholic taste with wooden vanilla fudge notes. Very full-bodied. Sharpish, slightly hot mouthfeel. Dryish wooden sherry and spice aftertaste with roasty caramelly vanilla fudge notes. Nice, but a bit dense and massive. (0.75l bottle, Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)

Bottle shared at a blind tasting. Came from a black bag, so it’s this one. Pours a hazy, murky, dull amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of dates, butterscotch, raisins, toffee, and brown sugar- a bit muddled, and very sweet. Same for the flavor, but without the same pop; butterscotch, toffee, dried fruits, and oak. Light-bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth, sweet mouthfeel. Not bad but a little on the weak side in the flavor.

Bottle. As the attached tag suggested, we tried this "hot" (42 degrees C). For me personally, I think I would’ve enjoyed this more at "normal Belgian ale temperature". But also I don’t really love whisky (and therefore don’t really love whisky-aged beers). Poured dark with a thin tan head, a little murky. Aroma was quite boozy (due to the high temperature, I’m sure), with some marshmallow and whisky. Taste was slightly fruity, slightly sour, slightly chocolaty, marshmallow, with an overall boozy whisky quality. Drinking this hot was an experience I’m glad to have had.

Bottle at DØE summerparty. Hazy reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma heavy malty (caramel, roasted, brown sugar, oak/wood, a note of whisky). Flavor medium+ sweet, light sour. Medium to full body, some warming alcohol, quite flat.

Bottle @ WY tasting. Bottle nr.12233. Black coloured beer with some medium carbonation and a small off white head. Strong spicy malty and a light alcoholic hinted aroma. Full palate. Finish is strong oaky spicy and light alcoholic. No real whisky palate but still a very complex brew.
