Wrapped bottle, striped black paper.(Oak Whisky Barrels)
An 9% ABV beer in which the fermented sugars were all obtained from malt (20 degrees Plato). A generous dose of hops and a long maturation time makes this beer best of the best. This beer is bottle conditioned and will go through taste evolution during many years. Matured for a quarter of a year on a selection of whisky casks. (Translation by Martinus)

Psyched about having found this ! Never heard of it before, but I really like the brewery. Unfortunately for me, they make very much styles I really don’t like ( old style IPA, smoked, peated,... ) to find a non-peated aged beer by them is a welcome surprise. Pours dark brown, small white head. Smell is weak... bit sweet. Taste is strong though. Dryness, sharp barrel character. It clearly stating non peated, yet I do taste hints of peat, which are even to much for me. Perhaps there was a very small part peated here? Anyway, its really hidden, so thats a good thing. Bitter ( I more like these types of beers based on dark maltyness and sweetness, Bitterness belongs more in the IPA style to me) Body could use some more thickness, too. Perhaps my expectations were to much here, but I don’t like it that much... Shame... Luckely for me, they still make one of belgium’s best IPA’s ( extase) So I’ll just keep drinking that.

Really murky brown, thing ringed head. Nose is soft meaty, lean lemon and stewed tea boozy. Initial taste is rich bitter roobios tea. Carbonation is soft enough and mouthfeel is less rich and more sinkable than the peated bad boys. Finishes vibrant lemon boiled sweet toffee and rich berry with a linger of a bit too much apple compared to the others. As everyone has just pointed out. Odd stewed action..

Alcohol is redelijk aanwezig.

Bottle thanks to MrHangover! Pours deep auburn, medium tan head, creamy and long lasting, decent residual lacing. Aroma is smoky, peaty, some dark sugars. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, peaky, smoky but not overpowering, some dark sugar but not a lot, a bit of Belgian yeast spiciness. Some heat, a bit hot for 9%. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel. Tasty.
