COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wrapped bottle, striped red paper with sticker "Peated whiskey cask" on the lower right end of the "logo"
An 9% ABV beer in which the fermented sugars were all obtained from malt (20 degrees Plato). A generous dose of hops and a long maturation time makes this beer best of the best. This beer is bottle conditioned and will go through taste evolution during many years. Selected by the brewer from his best peated whisky casks. Matured for a quarter of a year. Winner of the Zythos Beer Festival (ZBF) consumer prize 2011. (Translation by Martinus)

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2013 660 ml bottle - aged for two years in perfect cellar conditions - pours murky brown with amber hints; creamy head - beige like a caffe latte. Aroma of roasted nuts, soy sauce, plums, coffee, a bit of peat but very nice and balanced, subtle. Medium body with just a tad too much sweetness that covers a bit too much the peated effect. Taste is going to a quad; bread, malt and a tad of peatiness. LIKE! ------ a fresh off the shelve 2013 version. Sampled at +15°C. Delicious vanilla and cream aromas (vanilla pudding), sweet oak, and caramel and malts. Huge beer, seriously underestimated.

Mooie chocolade bruine kleur met een volle lichtbruine kraag. Goede volle geur. Ruikt peated, gerookt, vanille en hout en iets ziltig. Smaakt vol, rook, peated, vanille en hout. Goede alcohol nasmaak. Lekker.

(Drinking date: 28 February 2014) The beer is pitch black, no light comes through. Thin layer of foam on the head. The beer smells a lot like whiskey, a lot of wood and smoke in the aroma. I don?t really like it. The carbonation and the mouthfeel are good. The taste is better, but still a lot of smoke and wood in the taste. I think this is a really good beer, but it is not my type of beer. So I rated this beer how I personally like it, so that?s why this beer gets a low score unfortunately. So overall this beer has a powerfull wood and smoke aroma and taste, which I personally don?t like. But I think that other people like this beer a lot. So it?s not a bad beer, it?s really good, but I personally don?t like it :( That?s why it gets the total score of 2.9 (Unfortunately I threw this beer away)

This beer has a lovely, dark, rich flavour. It has roasty, chocolate and smoky tones. A beautiful ruby colour, minimal head and favourably not too sweet. Not so much carbonation. An abrupt finish.

Pours a dark brown red beer with a good white head. Smells smoked, bacon, paint, malts. Tastes smoked, paint, malts, bit vanilla and coffee with a good bitter finish. Very complex. Medium body, average carbo and a sticky oily texture.

Olut kaatuu lasiin samean ruskeana muodostaen vaalean beigen vaahdon. Tuoksu on voimakkaan turpeinen ja savuinen. Mukana myös paahtuneisuutta. Maultaan olut on paahtunut, voimakkaan turpeinen, voimakkaan savuinen ja lakritsinen. Simplistinen, koska savu ja turpeisuus peittää paljon allensa.

Bottle@home, 660 ml. A clear ruby brown beer with a delicate beige head. The nose is peated, malty and bitter sweet. It is a full bodied beer, with a low carbonation. Taste is peated, bitter sweet and caramel malts. Palate is mild, lasting bitter sweet body. Overall it is a very nice beer, with a nice peaty touch. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Been really looking forward to trying this one. Aroma vanilla, light smoke, honey. Taste is somewhere between a Belgian strong ale and an imperial stout. Sweet roasted malts with a nice bitterness and definite peated whiskey notes in the aftertaste. Lived up to my expectations as a whiskey fan as well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear dark-brown colour with a slim beige head. Nose is mainly peated whiskey, smook and wood, but also has an unpleasant sour tone. Taste first has smoke, liquorice and whiskey but later the strange sour tone in the aroma also hits the tastebuds, sadly. Body is too light for this style of beer, low carbonated. Disappointing.
